InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)], the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, today announced that Roslyn Neal Dickerson, senior vice president, Diversity, the Americas, was appointed to the American Hotel & Lodging Association’s (AH&LA) Multicultural & Diversity Advisory Council.

IHG is a founding member of the AH&LA’s Multicultural & Diversity Advisory Council, which develops multicultural and diversity initiatives within the lodging industry, strives to ensure that the industry successfully promotes diversity efforts and works to engage the entire hotel community.

“This is a tremendous chance for me to pursue one of my passions – developing the minority lodging leaders of tomorrow,” said Dickerson. “Minority entrepreneurs are active in franchising, but not necessarily in the hotel industry, and only through exposure and education will our industry be able to change this.”

In her role at IHG, Dickerson is responsible for leading, developing and implementing diversity and inclusion strategies for the hotel company. Dickerson will bring to the council her experience in leading IHG’s Minority Owner Development program designed to attract more African American, Hispanic and Native American participants to IHG’s already diverse group of owners and operators. The program is centered around developing minority hotel owners and offers training and financial incentives.

AH&LA is a 96-year-old association of lodging properties and companies throughout the United States. Members are represented by AH&LA at the national level as well as by partner state associations, which provide many additional cost-saving benefits. With approximately 10,000 members in the United States and internationally, AH&LA represents more than 1.3 million guest rooms. As the voice of the industry ensuring a positive business climate for hoteliers, AH&LA provides advocacy on Capitol Hill, education, marketing, information and bottom-line benefits.
