Southern Comfort
When it comes to food, Southerners know the secret flavours of comfort like no one else: grits dripping with butter, okra simmered with onion and tomatoes, buttermilk fried chicken and flaky pecan pie . . . you get the idea. Southern cooks have a talent for finding just the right combination to make your mouth water every time.
So it's little surprise that Executive Chef Robert Gerstenecker at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta was able to shake up, update, and dare we say upgrade, the beloved Bloody Mary by adding a dash of Southern charm.
Served in a mason jar at the Hotel's restaurant Park 75, the "Mason Jar Mary" conjures up images of warm afternoons and wisteria-covered verandas. But this Mary is no shrinking violet, taking a bite out of tradition with house-pickled okra, a custom spice mix, a pearl onion and a thick, smoky slice of bacon - yes, bacon! - from the hills of Tennessee. We reckon it's the best Bloody Mary this side of the Mason-Dixon Line.
So c'mon, y'all! Show your taste buds some southern hospitality with brunch at Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta this weekend.
