Two-star Michelin restaurant Amber announces its 2010 Epicurean series, celebrating the finest of food and wine. Each Epicurean dinner is preceded by an hour-long apéritif and introduction of fine wines by visiting winemakers and wine masters.

Amber’s restaurant manager, Thomas Combescot, comments, “Wine and food aficionados will be given the opportunity to sample unique vintages in a selection of rare wines from around the world. Guests can also interact with many well-known and respected winemakers and wine connoisseurs. These intimate dinners allow for a sharing of knowledge by all who appreciate fine wine and exceptional cuisine.”

The next upcoming Epicurean dinner will be held on 4 March 2010 and will feature a selection of fine vintages. Paul Hermans and Philippe Maurette are hosts and will introduce the history of Domaine Arnoux/Lachaux & Château Climens.

Domaine Robert Arnoux is most likely a very familiar name to burgundy lovers, but the name Pascal Lachaux might just stump them. Pascal Lachaux is the son-in-law of the late, great Robert Arnoux who has been at the helm of this renowned domaine for well over two decades.

Pascal has crafted some of the greatest wines produced by the estate while also expanding the domaine’s selections. However, Pascal is not one to limit his reach throughout the region to only the domaine’s holdings. Indeed, he started a micro-negociant firm aptly named Pascal Lachaux to produce an additional range of wines beyond Domaine Arnoux’s holdings.

Crafted with the same care and attention to detail for which the maker is known, these negociant wines are some of the best examples of their vineyards and are relative bargains when compared to many domaine bottlings from Arnoux and its peers.

Selected wines include: Champagne Jean-Louis Deparis brut, Chambolle Musigny 1er cru Les Groseilles 2007, Clos Saint Denis grand cru 2002, Vosne-Romanée 1er cru Les Suchots 1999, Romanée Saint Vivant grand cru 1999, Echezeaux grand cru 1971, Château Climens 2005 Barsac, and Château Climens 1996 Barsac.

At the Epicurean dinner on 4 March, wines will be paired with a specially created six-course menu created by Executive Chef Richard Ekkebus. Dinner with wine pairing is priced at HK$2,888. All Epicurean events are limited to 20 guests only and will take place in Amber’s Private Wine Room.

Upcoming Spring Epicurean series dinners include:

14 April 2010 Spanish Wine Dinner
Hosted by Spanish celebrity winemaker Alvaro Palacios
Six-course menu with seven exceptional wines, including two vintages of his exceptional wine L’Ermita. Priced at HK$3,488

17 April 2010 Sake Dinner with Sato No Homare sake
Six-course menu with six exceptional sakes. Priced at HK$2,388

In May 2010, The Landmark Mandarin Oriental will have the honour of hosting four additional Epicurean wine dinners with some highly prestigious wineries, and each dinner personally hosted by some of the world’s most acclaimed wine experts.
