Stratosphere Hotel & Casino announces the addition of Joseph Thompson as General Manager of Top of the World Restaurant. Thompson brings more than thirty years of professional cooking, kitchen and dining room management experience to the property’s premier restaurant.
“Joseph Thompson is one of the most experienced food and beverage professionals in the industry,” said Matthew Mascali, Beverage Director at Stratosphere. “He knows the business intimately in all its facets, from the front of house, to the kitchen and back office. He is a great addition to our team here at Stratosphere and we are confident in his ability to take Top of the World to even greater success.”
Prior to joining the Stratosphere, Thompson served as General Manager of historic Las Vegas restaurants Alan Albert’s Vintage Steakhouse and The Rosewood Grille, where he managed everything from human resources to menu development. Thompson was also the Proprietor and Chef of Rafters restaurant, also in Las Vegas, which was recognized by Zagat, AAA and Mobile. Prior to Rafters, he served as Food Service Director and Executive Chef for ARA Food Services Las Vegas Convention Center / George Moscone Convention Center San Francisco, where Thompson managed a team of more than 100, and catered events for guests numbering in the thousands.
Thompson holds an associate’s degree in Hotel/Restaurant Management from the City College of San Francisco, is a graduate of the Culinary Arts Apprenticeship Program at the San Francisco Olympic Club, and also holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of San Francisco.
