Kempinski announces the appointment of a new Chief Financial Officer, Simon Coombs, who will also hold the position of Executive Vice President in Europe’s oldest luxury hotel management group.
In line with Kempinski’s continued growth, the top management team at Kempinski is being reinforced with Coombs’ arrival. Reto Wittwer, President & CEO of Kempinski, is delighted to have secured Coombs for this important position, “Kempinski is expanding at a rate never seen before in the history of our company. I am convinced that with Simon Coombs we have the right person to take us forward with renewed vigour, while maintaining financial discipline and performance.”
Coombs will replace Heidi Niedermeier in her role as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing the Finance Department, and will also assume responsibility for the group’s Information Technology and Development Departments.
A 41-year old British citizen, Coombs has a diverse and distinguished background. For the past 16 years, Coombs has worked for Hyatt Corporation in various positions linked to development and finance. Most recently, Coombs held the Hong Kong based position of Vice President Finance for the Asia Pacific region, where he was responsible for Corporate Finance, Hotel Finance and Treasury functions as well as for the implementation of Global Corporate Strategy for Hyatt International in Asia Pacific. In this function, he was responsible for the management of 28 subsidiaries, including cross-border tax planning, coordination of internal control frameworks and external audits as well as tax and statutory compliance.
