Crouching Tiger, Massaging Dragon

Ancient Chinese cosmology says our universe is divided into four seasons. Each season, or quadrant, has a celestial guardian. Dragons preside over spring, phoenixes soar over summer, tigers prowl through fall and turtles, well, crawl through winter much the same way we do.

It's only fitting that Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai has chosen to honour these four guardians with a blissful menu of treatments at new Qin The Spa.

As you enter the 8,200-square-foot space through a ceiling-high lacquered wood door, you'll feel you're stepping into an Imperial Palace. And once inside, we guarantee you'll be treated like a King or Queen.

Indulge in a 2- to 3-hour "ritual" for each of the quadrants and take your body and soul on an unparalleled journey to relaxation. For example, sign up for a Green Dragon Spring Rite and you'll be bathed in tea blossoms and massaged with warmed bamboo sticks and gold-infused oil. The Red Phoenix Summer Rite features a white sandalwood and magnolia scrub, followed by a wild orchid and peony hot compress.

All of the Spa's treatments draw inspiration from ancient healing practices and each treatment room has its own design and character, based on the classic Chinese text I Ching and its eight symbols that represent the universe: sky, earth, thunder, wind, water, fire, mountain and marsh.

Ready to be treated like you're Chinese Dynasty royalty?
Visit Four Seasons Hotel Shanghai for four seasons' worth of pampering.
