Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International's upscale, distinctive full-service brand, today announced that the Wyndham City Center Hotel in Washington, D.C. will become the Renaissance "M" Street Hotel this fall following an $18.5 million renovation. The 355- room hotel, located at the corner of M Street and New Hampshire Avenue, will immediately undergo a comprehensive refurbishment of its guest rooms, meeting space, lobby, restaurant and bar. The property was purchased by a joint venture, comprised of funds managed by Westbrook Partners, and an affiliate of Northview Hotel Group, Inc. The hotel will be managed by Marriott as the M Street Hotel until the re-branding to a Renaissance in the fall.

We are excited to announce this newest addition to our portfolio," said Hank Biddle, senior vice president, Renaissance Hotels & Resorts, North America. "Once the extensive renovations are completed, we expect that both visitors and the residents of Washington, D.C. will discover a hotel with stylish accommodations; crisp, attentive service; distinctive meeting space and a contemporary restaurant that will feature well-defined, quality dining."

The hotel's front desk will be redesigned to welcome guests with an inviting sense of arrival and a library-like bar/lounge providing a cozy retreat for business or pleasure. The hotel's restaurant will be upgraded, and a new coffee bar will be added to cater to local clientele, as well as hotel guests. In addition, an expanded fitness area will offer state-of-the-art equipment and a new "Cardio Theater", featuring treadmills with personal viewing LCD screens.

The hotel's guestrooms will be redesigned to Renaissance standards and include the new Renaissance bedding. Replacing the traditional bedspread with down comforters nestled inside sheeted duvets, the bedding will feature 300- thread count, cotton rich sheets; a four inch mattress topper accented with decorative pillow shams; bolster and decorative bed throw and bed skirt. The meeting space will be upgraded with all new lighting fixtures and dimming system, doors and hardware, and architectural elements. New furniture and leather ergonomic conference chairs will be added to the existing Georgetown Board Room.

Located in the heart of the nation's Capitol, the new "M" Street Hotel is situated within easy walking distance from National Mall and Georgetown, and is just 7 miles from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. The hotel is accessible to other popular sites such as Dupont Circle, Embassy Row, the Washington Monument, the Smithsonian, Ford's Theater, Arlington National Cemetery and the Pentagon.
