The Guide Michelin awarded its Michelin Stars, which had been eagerly anticipated in culinary circles around the world, to as many as three Adlon restaurants: the classic French Gourmet Restaurant “Lorenz Adlon”, the Restaurant MA Tim Raue, which provides Chinese influences to its innovative cuisine, and the Restaurant Gabriele, “the Italian living room of Berlin”. The three Michelin Stars are on a par with the awards of the gourmet bible Gault Millau, which went to the Restaurant MA Tim Raue, which received 18 points and 3 toques, the Gourmet Restaurant Lorenz Adlon, which received 17 points and 3 toques, and the Restaurant Gabriele, which received 16 points and 2 toques. This probably makes the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin and its multitude of star-winning gourmet temples quite unique in Europe.
The Gourmet Restaurant Lorenz Adlon at the Hotel Adlon Kempinski Berlin and its chef de cuisine Thomas Neeser along with his team have been awarded the Michelin Star for the sixth consecutive year. This outstanding award is a tribute to the consistent and exquisite cuisine in the French style and the culinary delights of an haute cuisine intricately prepared and brought to perfection by the star-winning chef and the entire staff at the Gourmet Restaurant on the Bel Etage.
Thomas Neeser - distinguished gourmet critics also refer to him as the “quiet magician” - was appointed sous-chef at the “Lorenz Adlon” in 2000 and has been chef de cuisine there since 2002. Neeser emphasizes: “We have been true to our principles from the very beginning and owing to our highly-motivated kitchen staff we have always been able to create superb food of the highest quality. I am very happy that the Guide Michelin has once again acknowledged this unvarying effort.”
Cheerful faces were also to be seen at the south side of the Hotel. Only five months after the opening of the MA Restaurant comprising the MA Tim Raue, the uma and the Shochu Bar, Tim Raue earned the first Michelin Star as well as 18 points in the Gault Millau for the MA Tim Raue, which provides modern cuisine with a Chinese influence. According to the Gault Millau, this restaurant has been launched as “a flagship of a new German world cuisine of its own identity”. Moreover, Raue’s wife Marie-Anne has been named the Gault Millau’s “Head Waitress of the Year”.
Last but not least the Italian Gourmet Restaurant Gabriele and chef de cuisine Björn Alexander Panek and his team earned one Michelin-Star and 16 points in the Gault Millau. For Panek and his team this award is an exceptional gastronomic achievement, given that the Westfalian-born chef only took charge of the kitchen in March of this year. He presents a “Cucina di Essenze e Ingredienti”, a cuisine full of Mediterranean lightness and elegance embossed by the essences and fragrances of Italy’s countryside.
This shower of stars and points makes the Culinary Voyage introduced by the Hotel Adlon a unique journey to gourmet galaxies. The trip to the stars commences with an apéritif in the new Lorenz Adlon wine store at 6:30 pm. Next the journey will take the culinary voyagers to the Michelin star-awarded Restaurant Gabriele, where chef de cuisine Björn Panek and his kitchen team serve hors d’oeuvres. Then culinary director Tim Raue will present the entrée in his new sphere: the MA Tim Raue, which has recently gained a coveted Michelin Star, too.
The main course is served at the Gourmet Restaurant Lorenz Adlon by the star-winning chef de cuisine Thomas Neeser. After the main dish, chef de cuisine Christian Müller will treat the guests to a delicious dessert in the Restaurant Quarré. Over an excellent digestif in the stylish Lobby-Bar of the Hotel an evening of palatal pleasures will slowly draw to its close
The Adlon Culinary Voyage will be taking place on the following Thursdays: December 11, 2008, February 26, March 19 and April 23, 2009. The price per person is € 240.00 and includes the menu and drinks in the above-mentioned Adlon restaurants and bars. The maximum number of guests per evening is 12.
