The Rezidor Hotel Group, one of the world’s fastest growing hotel companies, has revealed it will open the 212 room Radisson Hotel & Resort, Sohar in Oman in Q1 2012. It is the company’s third property in the Sultanate – the group currently manages the 156 room Radisson SAS Muscat, and will open the 175 room Park Inn Muscat in Q1 2009.

“With two Radisson properties currently in operation or planned, plus our soon to be opened Park Inn Muscat, our commitment to Oman’s potential as a sought-after tourism and business destination is very clear. With stunning natural assets, a thriving business centre and a culture steeped in tradition, Oman will continue to solidify its reputation as a highly desired tourism destination within the GCC and beyond,” said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor.

Sohar was an ancient capital of Oman, and is 220 km away from Muscat and 180 km from Dubai. The Radisson Hotel & Resort, Sohar, is located on the city’s stunning beach front. Besides 212 rooms and suites, the resort will offer 3 restaurants, 2 bars, leisure facilities, including a swimming pool and a fully equipped gymnasium, hairdressers, conference areas including 7 meeting rooms and ballroom, and a business centre. The project is wholly owned by developers Al Nabri Global Investment LLC and is designed to meet the growing requirements for top-end hospitality, business and leisure facilities in Sohar.

The coastal city of Sohar was once an important Islamic port and Oman’s largest town. Visitors will be attracted to its large and functional souq where skilled tailors, fruit sellers, and fishermen vie for space. Overlooking the bay is the imposing sight of an old four storey fort, complete with six looming towers.
