On behalf of NewPage Wisconsin System Inc., Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ select service division is pleased to announce the sale of the Hotel Mead & Conference Center to WR Hotel Properties, Ltd. The Hotel Mead & Conference Center is located near Wisconsin Rapids’ prime lodging demand generators. The only full-service, upscale hotel in the area, the Hotel Mead & Conference Center has 157 guestrooms, including 51 suites, and 14,000 square feet of conference space, with two ballrooms, an indoor swimming pool, a fitness center, sauna and hot tub, upscale tavern and two restaurants.
Wisconsin Rapids is nestled along the Wisconsin River in Wood County, an area known as the “Heart of Wisconsin” due to its central location in the state. The area, designated a "Dream Town" by Demographics Daily, received this distinction for its low crime rate, access to health care, low cost of living, good schools, supply of good jobs and quick commutes. The largest industrial sectors are paper manufacturing, agriculture, wholesale sales, professional services and hotels. Wood County attracts over 11,000 out-of-county workers daily.
“The acquisition of the Hotel Mead & Conference Center gives the investor an opportunity to own a full-service interior corridor hotel in a strategic location within the center of the area's major agricultural and manufacturing industries,” said Mark von Dwingelo, a senior vice president for Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.
