General Hotel Management (GHM) Limited, a luxury hotel management and development company, scooped a double win at the 15th Annual Malaysia Tourism Awards in the Best Restaurant category held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre on July 22, 2007.
The Gulai House at The Andaman was awarded 'Best Restaurant - Malay Cuisine' while The Dining Room at Carcosa Seri Negara picked up the 'Best Restaurant - Western Cuisine' Award.
With more than 500 nominees vying for 43 awards in 11 categories, the coveted Malaysian Tourism Awards are recognised as the country's highest accolade in the hospitality and tourism industry. Esteemed as the Oscars in the hospitality industry, the awards are designed to celebrate excellence in service.
Minister of Tourism, Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor and Tourism Malaysia Director-General Datuk Mirza Mohammad Taiyab presented the awards to winning organisations and hotels at a gala dinner event. Accepting the award on behalf of GHM hotels was the General Manager for The Andaman, Ms. Alison Fraser. She said, "We are honoured to receive this highly-coveted award. To have our hard work, talents and accomplishments acknowledged and applauded is both gratifying and humbling."
