At the meeting point of two great wildernesses, where the Chongwe River spills into the Zambezi, Time + Tide’s flagship private house, Chongwe House, has undergone a bold reinvention in time for Zambia’s peak safari season to begin.

Striking a balance between elemental and elegant, the redesign enhances its sculptural, organic form with earthy tones, natural textures, and an effortless indoor-outdoor flow.

Inspiring a greater sense of place, this double-storey, four-bedroom retreat is now lighter, brighter, and more immersed into the wild, making it the perfect sole-use safari house for multi-generational families.

New drop-down tented fronts dissolve the boundary between bedroom and bush, while an expansive reconfigured outdoor space - complete with a firepit, boma, large swimming pool, and interactive outdoor kitchen with a pizza oven and open-flame barbecue area - sets the scene for slow, fireside evenings under a sky heavy with stars. The transformation extends to every detail, from bespoke furniture to refined tableware, elevating the experience while honouring the land.

As ever, guests will enjoy a dedicated team - a private guide, a chef, and a home in the wild - ensuring an intimate, uninterrupted safari on their own terms. While the days unfold with private game drives, boating and canoeing safaris, walking safaris and tiger fishing, nights hum with the iconic call of the fish eagle and quiet rhythms of the Lower Zambezi.

In keeping with all of Time + Tide’s properties, Chongwe House has been inspired by its diverse tapestry of habitats, from the ancient groves of trees and the imposing mountain escarpment to the north, to the mighty Zambezi River where wildlife gathers. For those looking to venture further, Chongwe House pairs naturally with an extended safari along the Luangwa River, home to five of Time + Tide’s camps in South Luangwa National Park - one of Africa’s most wildlife-dense regions.

HOW: Rates start at $900 per person, per night (minimum four guests). Time + Tide Chongwe House reopens from May 1 – November 15, 2025. Access is via a 35-minute scenic flight from Lusaka to Royal Airstrip, followed by a 20-minute game drive.
