Scheduled to open in Spring 2025, the resort will be operated by Pitoulis S.A, one of Greece’s leading hospitality operators.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Epirus, the resort will feature 67 spacious rooms, including deluxe and executive suites with private pools and patios.
The hotel will also feature a rich culinary offering, such as Skipper’s Beach Bar, Island’s Bar by the pool, and the Thalassa restaurant, where Greek and Mediterranean delicacies are crafted using local produce. Guests staying at the new resort will be able to access two swimming pools with expansive sea views, as well as dedicated family and adult-only pools.
At the recent signing ceremony in Greece, Patrick Mendes, Accor’s Chief Executive Officer for Premium, Midscale & Economy brands in Europe and North Africa, said: “The signing of our first Mövenpick address in Greece marks a significant milestone in our ambition to grow within this dynamic and culturally rich country. It also stands as a testament to our commitment to bringing our premium brands to more destinations in the region and beyond. Mövenpick is globally recognised for its culinary excellence, and Mövenpick Resort Agios Nikolaos Sivota will perfectly exemplify the brand’s ethos.”
The Pitoulis family laid the foundation for what would become a landmark in the Epirus region’s hospitality landscape.
Their journey began decades ago with the acquisition of a scenic plot in Sivota, guided by a vision to create a retreat that would celebrate the area’s natural beauty and charm. In 1996, this vision materialised with the opening of the original Agios Nikolaos Hotel, a boutique property of 40 rooms.
Over nearly three decades, the hotel has grown to become an enduring symbol of quality and a treasured destination in Sivota, renowned for its stunning setting and welcoming atmosphere.
Built on a legacy of education, ambition, and business acumen, the Pitoulis family’s dedication to their property has ensured its continued relevance and appeal. Now, in collaboration with Mövenpick, this treasured address is set to embark on an exciting new chapter, bringing international recognition to the region. The partnership seamlessly blends the rich heritage of Agios Nikolaos Hotel with Mövenpick’s ethos of culinary excellence, human connection, and sustainability, offering guests an experience that honours both tradition and innovation.
“This collaboration represents an extraordinary opportunity to share the essence of Sivota with a global audience,” said Vassilis Pitoulis, co-founder of Pitoulis S.A.
“We are proud to build on our family’s legacy, ensuring the region’s beauty and culture shine while evolving our hotel to meet the standards of a world-class brand.”
Founded in 1948, Mövenpick pioneered the Swiss restaurant scene and evolved into an international hotel brand with inventive culinary excellence at its heart. Today, that same generous and creative hospitality lives on in each of its 120+ hotels around the world, where cuisine serves as the cornerstone for fostering meaningful human connections and driving positive change.
