MGallery, the Accor Group’s luxury boutique-hotel brand, announces opening of the Palazzo Tirso Cagliari – MGallery, in Sardinia on April 8 this year.
A genuine architectural gem dating back to the 1920s, this former Italian palace transformed into a 5* hotel, offers 85 rooms and suites, two restaurants – one gastronomic and one rooftop with a breathtaking view over the city – together with two bars, a Spa by l’Occitane, a sports room and three meeting rooms. It also boasts a majestic facade in Neo-Renaissance style.
An idyllic situation facing the sea
The hotel located opposite the tourist port of Cagliari is just a few steps from the Via Roma – the beating heart of the city – making this new address truly remarkable. In this sumptuous setting, hotel guests are offered an exceptional experience allowing them to discover the treasures of the capital and the most beautiful places in the “City of the Sun”, scattered between the four historical districts of Marina, Stampace, Castello and Villanova.
A delightful walk starting at the foot of the former palace will take them to the Bastione di Saint Remy, the Elephant and San Pancrazio towers, the Roman amphitheater, the botanical gardens and the Cittadella dei Musei with its many museums.
The famous Poetto beach, less than 10 minutes away by car, offers a well-equipped seafront, with opportunities for sports activities or simply enjoying the pleasures of the Mediterranean.
Between historical legacy and modernity
The former palace of the same name, now converted into a hotel, was designed by the architect Flavio Scano, a native of Cagliari, in the mid-1920s, and stands out for it its unique style, a well-known landmark for the island’s inhabitants. The building is one of the first examples of Neo-Classical architecture in concrete in Sardinia.
Previously the headquarters of key institutions such as the Società Elettrica Sarda (its first operator) and the regional office of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, the building is today the property of Puddu Costruzioni, a family-owned group proud of its 70-year history in construction and real-estate.
As the Puddu family explains, “We have completed numerous public and private construction projects, in particular, schools, industrial facilities, and commercial and residential buildings, winning important certifications and prestigious partnerships in the sector along the way. The Puddu Group masterminded the restoration and renovation works and the hotel conversion, coordinating all the design and construction phases and entrusting interior decoration to the prestigious Studio Marco Piva.”
The architect Armando Bruno, CEO of Studio Marco Piva, and Ferdinando Tedesco, chief decorator, have developed a project that respects the building’s historical legacy while meeting contemporary requirements, making it an iconic hotel. The bespoke furniture and carefully designed layout of the spaces reflect their desire to create a sophisticated ambiance.
Palazzo Tirso Cagliari - MGallery is equipped with every possible comfort and state-of-the-art technologies. It has 85 rooms, six of them fitted out for people with mobility issues. Of these 85 rooms, nine are suites with a view of the sea.
The 1926 Marina Presidential Suite is a hymn to local traditions, juxtaposing Venetian mosaics and Art Nouveau to create a refined and colorful cocoon. It has two private balconies offering a breathtaking view of the city and the Golfo degli Angeli, the crowning glory of this exceptional duplex living space.
The hotel also offers three naturally lit meeting rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technologies. These spaces, covering a total of 180 square meters, can welcome up to 90 participants and are ideal for hosting corporate events and conventions.
To ensure that their stay remains forever engraved in their memory, the Palazzo Tirso Cagliari – MGallery proposes a Memorable Moment on board the Catamaran Lagoon. Guests will be invited to enjoy an unforgettable experience on this enchanting boat, where watching the sun set takes on a completely different dimension.
Sardinian charm and hospitality
The hotel has a gastronomic restaurant, TERRA, catering for both guests and outside customers.
The menu designed by Chef Emanuele Scarello unveils a signature cuisine in an extraordinarily elegant setting. The open-plan layout will allow diners to view all the stages of dish preparation, orchestrated by Alessio Signorino, a young Sardinian chef.
The CIELO restaurant on the hotel’s magnificent terrace, open continuously, is the ideal place to admire the splendid panorama of the city and the Golfo degli Angeli over a cocktail - or while enjoying traditional Italian dishes and delicacies with a more international accent.
The terrace is illuminated at nightfall and welcomes Sardinians and travelers for pre-dinner drinks, evening festivities and DJ sets in the Infinity lounge bar.
A unique sensory voyage
For yet another beautiful escape, the Palazzo Tirso Spa by l’Occitane immerses guests and curious visitors in the heart of Provence.
This sensory voyage starts from the moment they pass through its doors, with an olfactory ambiance permeating the entire 300 square-meter space. A genuine bubble of well-being and tranquility, this Wellness space invites its guests to discover a new environment, recharge their batteries and restore their inner balance, thanks to treatments, soothing music and traditional Provencal infusions.
The decision to entrust management of the spa to the L’Occitane brand was no accident – its values, based on attentiveness to customers and respecting the environment are in perfect harmony with the entrepreneurial philosophy of the Puddu family and Accor.
The hotel also offers a sports room, a rooftop infinity pool, a solarium, a sauna and a heated pool with balneotherapy facilities.
In addition, easy access to the Tirso Beach Club, located 10 minutes from the hotel, complements the offering of the Palazzo Tirso - MGallery by providing a link to the sea, both for hotel guests and anyone wishing to spend a day at the beach or organize an event in a picturesque place.
Today, the Palazzo is the proudest ambassador of hospitality in Sardinia, for local inhabitants and the hotel’s international clientele.
