Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement to strengthen the partnership with Nile Exploration Corporation: with effect from November 2007 the Nile fleet, which already encompasses three luxury cruisers, will be augmented by the new Mövenpick M/S Royal Lily. Following the takeover of a further vessel called Mövenpick M/S Prince Abbas the company’s presence will also be extended to Lake Nasser.

Nile Exploration Corporation already owns the Mövenpick M/S Royal Lotus, which celebrated her maiden voyage in November 2005, and which in 2006 was named the best Nile cruiser by the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism. The company boasts cruise experience gained over three decades and is renowned for utilising state-of-the-art marine engineering and navigation technology, certified to the highest international standards for on-board comfort, safety and hygiene.

“The positive and well-functioning partnership between us and Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in conjunction with Royal Lotus formed the basis for the signing of a further management agreement,” explains Nagui Erian, CEO of Nile Exploration Corporation. “We are delighted that the internationally successful hotel group with Swiss roots is set to operate two further deluxe cruisers from our company.”

“We are honoured that, thanks to our strong partner Nile Exploration Corporation, we are able to offer our guests new cruise ship opportunities of the very highest standard,” says Jean Gabriel Pérès, President & CEO Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. “The floating ‘boutique’-hotels offer fewer cabins than customary, which means our guests will enjoy larger rooms, spacious public areas and additional amenities.”

The new fully air-conditioned Mövenpick M/S Royal Lily will be a sister ship to Royal Lotus and disposes on 56 comfortable cabins (21.5 m2). These are located in the upper decks, in order to allow guests unhindered views of the spectacular scenery along the Nile. Those who prefer an even more luxurious setting will feel well-accommodated in one of the four Royal Suites (approx. 42 m2).

The spacious restaurant offers varied buffets and menus à la Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts with Egyptian and international specialities, as well as vegetarian dishes which meet the most demanding culinary standards. The elegant Salon Deck with panorama windows is equipped with an Oriental-style lounge, a bar and a dance floor. The Sun Deck disposes on a swimming pool, a heated whirlpool, a pool bar as well as a canopied area.

“It is a unique experience to discover the enchanting landscape between Aswan and Luxor by a Nile cruiser and to visit the splendid antique temples and tombs”, adds Josef Kufer, Senior Vice President Africa Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts. “In fact, certain places of interest can only be visited by ship.”

The second new addition to the Mövenpick fleet is to be found on Lake Nasser: The Prince Abbas is due to undergo a comprehensive refit and modernisation, and is scheduled to be relaunched in November 2007 as Mövenpick M/S Prince Abbas. Five fully air-conditioned decks with exterior promenades, as well as 65 cabins, including 18 Junior Suites and four Royal Suites, ensure upscale comfort. Further outlets include a swimming pool on the two-storey Sun Deck, a library, a fitness centre as well as a lounge and a bar. Egyptian and international specialities will be served in the restaurant.

“With Lake Nasser we are now able to offer a further exceptional destination within Egypt,” continues Josef Kufer. “Our guests will soon have the opportunity to discover the historic and lesser known Nubian treasures – these include amongst others the mighty temple of Abu Simbel with the colossal statues of King Ramses II.”
