The guest rooms and suites are beautifully appointed and quiet, with sleep- and rest-inducing colors and lighting having been chosen to make a very personal retreat. The color pallete and finishes continue the style of the resort’s current rooms and suites. And for an even more personal experience, guests can stock their own mini bar in advance of arrival, which includes some tempting local selections. For wine lovers, an extra detail will be offered in the suites on the first floor. Each will have a wine fridge with a selection of Douro wines, with temperatures specially regulated to keep the wines at the ideal temperature.
Authentic materials gathered from the Douro Valley are incorporated into the décor and include wine bottle light fixtures, vineyard tools of yesteryear and wall art inspired by wooden wine cases. The bathrooms are spacious and bedrooms feature two king beds in four rooms and super kings in three suites and a Quinta Superior. All of the 10 guestrooms and suites on the ground floor have generous outside areas with comfortable seating plus hot tubs in the bathrooms. Two of the current guestrooms on level six will have private wooden bridges leading to secret gardens with seating and hot tubs perfect for moments of meditation.
To add an extra dimension to events, the space in which new meeting rooms is being created has outstanding views across the vineyards and can accommodate meetings from 20 and 70 participants.
The walls will have ‘writable’ sections to enhance fun at interactive meetings and all rooms will be equipped with the latest technology. A dramatic feature is the indoor-outdoor adjoining room for pre-function or break-out sessions. It features a massive open skylight, a full height living wall and it is multi-functional to transform seamlessly from a quiet lounge to either a luxurious cinema, a lecture room, a reception room or even aerial yoga or meditation space.
Transformation work will be carried out between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm on weekdays and will be mostly confined to buildings adjacent to the main hotel, minimizing noise disturbance or negatively impacting views. As a further buffer, the resort will take some rooms out of inventory at the start of the project, but return them to inventory to accommodate all reservations during the Easter holidays. At this time, construction work will be on hold so guests will not be impacted.
