This announcement builds on the three year partnership between both French-born brands, which has brought curated playlists to the arrival experience in signature Le Méridien Hubs and special performances to the brand’s hotels worldwide.
This month in London, Le Méridien will host an intimate, acoustic set celebrating Nouvelle Vague’s new album release, I Could Be Happy. In Shanghai and Vienna, Le Méridien will premiere its late-night music series Paris After Dark with members of Nouvelle Vague, celebrating their shared French heritage and the recent renovation of the brand’s flagship hotel, Le Méridien Étoile. In Paris at the hotel’s legendary Jazz Club Etoile, Le Méridien will introduce Nouvelle Vague Presents, a quarterly music programme, which will feature emerging talent throughout 2017.
Tickets for all music performances will be open to the public beginning today.
“Both Le Méridien and Nouvelle Vague find shared inspiration in modern classics with a twist – from the iconic songs they perform in 1960s Bossa Nova style to the midcentury modern design of our hotels,” said Brian Povinelli, Global Brand Leader, Le Méridien Hotels & Resorts. “Collaborating with this talented collective of musicians for over three years, we have created an enchanting soundtrack for our hotels that celebrates the glamour of travel; and now, we get to bring that captivating, live experience to Le Méridien guests around the world.”
Le Méridien Presents Paris After Dark: Bringing Sultry Sounds to Shanghai & Vienna
Inspired by the birthplace of Le Méridien as a brand and the seduction of the City of Light, Paris After Dark is an evocative, late-night series that reinterprets French classics with a modern twist. Starring the grande dames of Nouvelle Vague: Elodie Frégé and Zula, each performance boasts eccentric costumes, elaborate lighting and tantalizing vocals. Concepted, choreographed and styled by Charlie Le Mindu and Zula, Paris After Dark will premiere at Le Royal Méridien Shanghai on Friday, November 4.
Tickets for the show at Le Royal Méridien Shanghai are available as part of an exclusive package, bookable via the hotel’s website. This Paris After Dark package (USD $222) includes a one-night stay in the Junior Suite, two entry tickets to the live Paris After Dark performance on November 4, and one glass of complimentary wine or beer.
On Tuesday, December 13, Paris After Dark travels to Vienna. The performance will take place at Le Méridien Vienna, which recently celebrated the reveal of a multi-million euro renovation of all public spaces, introducing a new restaurant and bar that anchor the signature Le Méridien Hub – a reinterpreted version of the traditional hotel lobby that creates a social gathering place for creative travellers. This ‘coffee house by day, cocktail lounge by night’ environment will provide an intimate backdrop for the sultry show.
The Paris After Dark performance at Le Méridien Vienna is open to the public and reservations are required; the starting price for a table for two, including a bottle of Champagne, is 90€, and tickets can be reserved by emailing info@you-vienna.at or calling +43 1 588 90 88 90. An exclusive “Paris After Dark” package is also available (300€) via the hotel’s website, and includes a one-night stay at Le Méridien Vienna, two tickets to the Paris After Darkperformance on December 13, a three-course dinner at YOU Restaurant, and breakfast for two.
New Nouvelle Vague Album Drops, Le Meridien Guests Hear It Live First
Nouvelle Vague drops their fifth studio album, I Could Be Happy, globally this week. To celebrate, the Parisian pop-reinventors will perform exclusive, acoustic sets at Le Méridien Piccadilly and Le Méridien Barcelona for guests and locals. One of the singles on the album, “La Pluie et le Beau Temps,” was written specifically for Le Méridien, as a celebration of the partnership between the hotel brand and Nouvelle Vague.
The first acoustic set will take place at Le Méridien Piccadilly in London on Monday, November 14 at 6:30pm; tickets are limited and will be offered on a first, come first, serve basis by emailing be.happy@lemeridien.com. The second acoustic set will take place at Le Méridien Barcelona in March 2017; specific details will be announced in the coming months.
Nouvelle Vague Presents: Revives the Soul of Legendary Jazz Club at Le Meridien Etoile
In the latest iteration of Nouvelle Vague’s global partnership with Le Méridien, the two brands return to their roots in Paris. Nouvelle Vague co-founders, musicians, and producers Marc Collin and Olivier Libaux will curate a quarterly music programme at the iconic Jazz Club Etoile, which was restored to its former glory in September with a multi-million dollar renovation of Le Méridien Etoile.
Throughout 2017, Nouvelle Vague Presents will feature emerging musical talent that hope to rival the icons that have performed at the jazz club before them, from favorites like B.B. King and Fats Domino to more recent artists like Diana Krall and Robin McKelle. The intimate jazz club, which marries a mid-century modern style with a grittier design inspired by Parisian metro lines, is open nightly to guests and locals with a new menu curated by Executive chef Laurent Bélijar.
