Our Annual Report thus describes a Company which in 2015 is:
- Stronger and more solvent: with improvements in our most important consolidated financial figures and greater value shared with society and the environment. Of the more than 2,900 million euros of wealth we generated, 1,222 million went to suppliers of goods and services, 583 million for Company employees, 224 for owners, and more than 282 million to the Public Administration. In addition, the Company also reduced its net debt by € 216 m.
- Closer to stakeholders, with projects to maximize proximity and accessibility for customers, travel agents, hotel owners and partners, a sustainable supply chain (suppliers), shareholders and investors, society and the environment, and a new relationship model with employees / internal customer.
- With a better aligned strategy and organization: the report contains the "strategic focus for 2015" with 7 strategic areas: Meliá digital, brands and innovation, globalization, real estate strategy, a competitive and efficient organization, and reputation and responsibility. These areas will advance further over the next Strategic Plan 2016-2018.
A very important milestone with respect to previous years is that our Annual Report also improves its format and accessibility, making it a easier to read and use for all of our stakeholders, and also aligning the format with the digitalisation process going on within the Company. To do this, Meliá has become one of a small group of companies that have digitalised their annual report, accompanying the traditional PDF version with a navigable online version which is fully responsive, making it downloadable and readable on any kind of device.
Finally, the MHI Annual Report 2015 is audited and verified according to the exacting standards of the Global Reporting Initiative.
