St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, part of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, Inc. is delighted to announce the forthcoming debut of the highly anticipated St. Regis Istanbul. The arrival of the hotel in March 2015 heightens the allure of this vibrant cosmopolitan destination and marks the entry of the St. Regis brand in Turkey.

“We are thrilled to unveil The St. Regis Istanbul and introduce its exceptional service standards and refined elegance to travellers and local residents,” said Rui Reis, General Manager, The St. Regis Istanbul. “The hotel presents one-of-a-kind experiences including several firsts in Turkey – Spago, the rooftop restaurant and lounge by world-renowned chef Wolfgang Puck and a Bentley Suite – all set within this remarkable space with unparalleled design inspired by Istanbul’s rich history.”

An ideal destination for leisure and business travellers, the 118-room St. Regis Istanbul provides an unmatched level of luxury and bespoke hospitality. Overlooking Maçka Park and the Bosphorus, the hotel is located in the sophisticated Nişantaşi neighbourhood on the European side of the city, surrounded by chic designer boutiques, contemporary art galleries and expansive dining and entertainment venues.

A Sense of Place

Designed by award-winning Turkish architect Emre Arolat, the hotel channels the spirit of the glamourous Art Deco era in Istanbul during the 1920s, blending it with contemporary Turkish art and luxurious amenities. The hotel houses an extensive selection of artworks from the Demsa Collection of Art – a private collection belonging to the Demsa Group, which also owns The St. Regis Istanbul.

“The design of The St. Regis Istanbul focuses on the social and urban context of its surroundings. Through the details and the works of art inspired by Maçka’s history and culture, I want to create an ambiguous perception that makes us wonder if the building is set in this time or not, and how it is there at all,” said Emre Arolat.

A spectacular chandelier designed by renowned Turkish artist Devrim Erbil welcomes guests into the hotel lobby. Titled “Supernova”, it is made by Lasvit and comprises 343 glass panels pieced together to create a cloud-like sculpture that envelops the reception area in a warm shimmering glow.

The lobby also features a magnificent high-gloss veneer wooden cabinet wall accentuated with bronze and beveled glass. Showcasing a curated selection of objets d’art, it is inspired by display cabinets that were commonly found in Turkish homes at the turn of the 20th century. This element is also incorporated into the design of the guestrooms and suites, where it appears as part of a buffet which serves as a mini-bar.

Set in earthy tones, the modernist Art Deco influence is pronounced throughout the hotel’s interiors: mocha leather wall coverings, walnut paneling, burnt bronze niches the colour of a thousand sunsets, tactile silk chandeliers and extensive use of marble. The façade, with its complex shutter system that reacts to natural elements, transforms as the day progresses and creates an ever-changing pattern within the hotel.

Luxurious Accommodations

The St. Regis Istanbul has 118 elegant rooms and suites, each with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the scenic Maçka Park and Bosphorus or début-de-siècle buildings of the chic Abdi İpekçi Street. Local Marmara marble is used extensively in the bathrooms while the rooms are embellished with artwork from Demsa Collection and furnishings designed by Emre Arolat Architects.

The Bentley Suite, one of the hotel's preeminent suites, has been created in partnership with the world's premier maker of luxury automobiles, and draws inspiration from the Bentley Continental GT model, designed for the modern aficionado of luxury and performance. The suite features hand-crafted finishes and one-of-a-kind furnishings throughout, exquisitely capturing the refined style and luxury associated the experience of sitting behind the wheel of a Bentley.

Guests enter through a beautifully crafted foyer with mirrored ceilings and a marble floor inset with subtle details that reflect the Continental's wheel design. Expansive glass windows envelop the space as guests lounge and entertain against a beautiful backdrop of Istanbul's iconic sites. Crafted in bespoke Bentley leather, a built-in sofa anchors the space and perfectly follows the strong curves and lines of both the suite's architecture and the Continental itself. From the elegant wet bar in olive ash with accents of bright engine spin, anthracite and claret, guests can enjoy a cocktail whilst three Breitling clocks keep time across Istanbul, London and New York. Special elements of the Bentley suite include a rug that captures the exquisite detail of the car in wool and silk with an abstract interpretation of the automobile's iconic matrix grille; custom made humidor and handsome his-and-hers jewellery boxes crafted by Bentley; large day sofa specially equipped with two champagne bottle coolers; and Bentley Home chaise in the bedroom.

Culinary Phenomenon above the Streets of Istanbul

In partnership with legendary chef Wolfgang Puck, The St. Regis Istanbul is home to the first international location of the iconic Spago restaurant, which stars as the hotel’s signature culinary experience. Located on the rooftop, Spago offers modern and imaginative seasonal menus coupled with a superb artisanal cocktail and wine programme, exceptional service, contemporary design and stunning views of Maçka Park and the Bosphorus. The interior of the fine-dining restaurant exudes a cool yet intimate ambiance featuring a distinctive barrel vaulted ceiling that unfolds onto floor to ceiling glass. The linear space is defined by an intricate wood plank and mosaic patterned inlay floors, black stone fireplaces and unique seating areas. Materials include local matte stone alongside luxurious zinc, marble, suede, wood and leather. Magnificent fine art and photography further define the dynamic space.

The focal point of the Spago lounge is its glamourous outdoor terrace and circular bar which will be the prime venue for celebrity spotting in Istanbul. Open all year round, the lounge features Mediterranean accents with pine trees and florals between tables, creating a seductive, breezy atmosphere above the bustling streets of Istanbul where guests can dine and enjoy ambient music.

Luxury Experiences Set in Style

For ground-level dining, there is the St. Regis Brasserie, which design is reminiscent of a Parisian brasserie, offering street-side action plus culinary chops at the show kitchen. Over at the adjoining Petit “O” Bar, guests can sip cocktails while gazing at Bedri Baykam’s “Bosphorus Breeze” mural above the bar’s champagne lounge.

The design of Iridium Spa takes its cue from nature with its tectonic and textural qualities. “The clean, modern lines in the spa are articulated in rich natural materials forming a subtle juxtaposition with the personality of the hotel with the use of brass detailing,” said Emre Arolat. A majestic stone scene accompanied by the sound of water at the entrance creates an intimate and serene ambiance. The spa features seven massage rooms, indoor pools and a hammam.

The prestigious Astor Ballroom, with onyx stones set in a bronze structural grid and glossy ebony wood, is ideal for special occasions and celebrations, accommodating up to 160 people. The hotel also features seven meeting rooms with state-of-the-art conference technology for business gatherings.
