Eclectic in their range of concepts and styles, the design hotels of the Worldhotels network are the masterpieces of celebrated architects and designers, each promising an experience unlike that of any other hotel in the world.

"All Worldhotels members are hotels of unique character and distinction; our member design hotels meet these criteria by virtue of their outstanding designs," noted Roland Jegge, Worldhotels Executive Vice President Asia-Pacific.

The following descriptions offer a glimpse of the novelty and richness that await travellers at design hotels of the Worldhotels property network. For more detailed information on these design hotels, please visit www.worldhotels.com.

ACME Hotel Company Chicago

Hip, trendy and inviting, the ACME Hotel manages to be at once tastefully artistic and fully down-to-earth. Comfortable guest rooms in this boutique hotel have clean minimalistic design, some with a single striking visual statement such as a large wall canvas imprinted with a giant palm. Magnificent murals and an ongoing exhibition of dazzlingly colourful mannequins suggest the unlimited potential of human creativity, a message that comes through more generally in the overall design of this hotel that is just a couple blocks from Chicago's Magnificent Mile.

Be Manos, Brussels

Named as one of the 65 most luxurious and trendy hotels in the world by Condé Nast Traveller, Be Manos exudes a 60's Soho chic with its sleek, monochrome design and retro fittings. Sixty luxurious rooms are smartly decorated in black & white and have natural black stone floors, metallic curtains, engaging photographs set in aluminium, a King-sized bed and a separate living space with work desk. This sophisticated hotel that is only a five-minute walk from the Eurostar terminal also has a Wellness room, a rooftop lounge and an indoor bar that is split into lounge and glass library sections.

Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong, SAR China

The Cosmopolitan Hotel embodies a distillation of the Chinese elegance and British stateliness that give Hong Kong its exotic beauty. Newly renovated guest rooms are majestic and refined and include Grand Deluxe Rooms that feature beautiful crystal light fixtures and a work desk with opalescent Mother of Pearl surface. Sweeping views from guest room windows encompass the city's dazzling diversity, green spaces and soul-lifting skyline.

Daniel Vienna, Austria

While other hotels are straining to add layer upon layer of luxury to their guest experience, travellers are raving about the Daniel Vienna for doing something totally different: reducing the fuss that often comes with such luxury. This "Smart Luxury" approach is reflected in everything about the Daniel, from its stylishly minimalistic interior to its hilarious website copy, to unique quirks such as a Dali-esque sculpture of a full-sized yacht dripping off the hotel roof, a bee farm, vegetable garden, and Vespa and bicycle rentals.

Hotel Edouard 7, Paris

Built in 1877 in pure Haussmanian style, Hotel Edouard 7 has paid tribute to illustrious guests over the centuries. A great lover of Paris, King Edward VII of United Kingdom made this hotel his Paris residence for exploring the city and admiring the unrestricted view from the balconies over the Opéra Garnier. The king was a man who loved fashion too, and the hotel was recently renovated to reflect the Audacity, Seduction, Character and Theatricality that characterised his haute couture tastes. Sixty-nine of the hotel's rooms are themed on the entente cordiale, the 1904 agreement that healed relations between the UK and France, and seamlessly blend French elegance with British spirit in jewel-like combinations of velvet and warm colours.

Hotel H20 Manila, Philippines

Staying in Hotel H2O Manila is a meditation on the infinite beauty of water. In fifty-two of the hotel's rooms, guests literally sleep with fish that reside in aquariums running the length and breadth of the main walls. Other rooms and suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the limpid waters of Manila Bay. Healing treatments that use the negative ionic air molecules found in natural settings such as virgin forests, beaches and mountains are offered at the property's Zenyu Eco Spa.

Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

Maya is the Malay word for 'illusion' or 'dream'; and Hotel Maya is a dreamy and serene retreat from the bustle of downtown Kuala Lumpur. The property's interior design is chic, fresh and stimulating, with surfaces of bronze and bamboo harmonising with purple and blue glass and streams of running water. The spectacular Kuala Lumpur skyline is dramatically framed in the floor-to-ceiling guest room windows. Indulgent Malay urut, Thai and Balinese massages await guests in the spa of the hotel, which also offers butler and personal chef service.

Sagamore, The Art Hotel, Miami

Beautiful and provocative artworks are encountered at every turn in the Sagamore Art Hotel and its gardens; they include paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations and videos by emerging and established artists, and are the personal collection of the hotel's owners. With 93 suites and 15 two-storey bungalows, this beachfront property in Miami's historic Art Deco District is also known as one of the city's most decadently luxurious hotels.

Sanctuary Hotel, New York

Marrying Manhattan cosmopolitanism with European savoir faire, the Sanctuary Hotel inspires warmth with its friendly service and rich colour palate of deep oranges and cognacs. Designed by father-and-son team Hank and Brandon Fried, the 111-room property in the heart of the theatre district also has a lovely rooftop restaurant with sensational views of midtown Manhattan.

Sir Albert Hotel, Amsterdam

Occupying a 19th century diamond factory in Amsterdam's culturally diverse De Pijp district, the boutique Sir Albert Hotel has a distinctively arty, playful and stylish personality. Its unique service philosophy makes guests feel they are in the welcoming home of a good friend. As soon as guests step in the door they are guided to the hotel library and offered a drink while check-in formalities are taken care of. Guest room interiors are designed by award-winning BK Architects and have vivid colour schemes, with high, airy ceilings and large windows that let in the abundance of daylight.

The Darling, Sydney

Located on the edge of Sydney's harbour, The Darling is named one of the 60 Best New Hotels in the world by Condé Nast Traveller. From the Molton Brown amenities and the customised mattresses and pillow menu to bespoke furniture and breath taking vistas of the city skyline, this lovingly-detailed property has 171 luxurious rooms and suites that come complete with features that are 'Distinctively Darling'. The hotel also features a 16 private-room spa and an outdoor infinity pool. Being a key feature of The Star's $870 million redevelopment, guests of The Darling get to enjoy more than 20 restaurants, bars, entertainment venues and cafes, a luxury retail collection, brand new nightclub and upscale gaming areas.
