The Knickerbocker, a legendary Beaux Arts building and registered New York landmark is the newest property to join The Leading Hotels of the World’s luxurious collection of authentic, distinct and independent hotels worldwide. Enviably situated on the southeast corner of 42nd Street overlooking the heart of Times Square, between Broadway and Bryant Park, The Knickerbocker will speak to the level of standards and excellence befitting of a ‘Leading Hotel,’ and provide travelers with the pinnacle of intuitive service, and redefine legacy at the crossroads of the world, when it opens its doors in 2014.

“Only the world’s most distinguished properties are admitted to The Leading Hotels of the World. To even be considered, potential member hotels are required to maintain the most exacting standards and offer an utterly unique, exceptional guest experience,” said Ted Teng, Chief Executive Officer of The Leading Hotels of the World. “The Knickerbocker will offer an unforgettable, authentic guest experience when it opens its doors and will exemplify the meaning of what it is to become a ‘Leading Hotel.’”

Few hotels can claim a heritage as remarkable as The Knickerbocker. The Leading Hotels of the World, the prestigious luxury hospitality organization which has served as the benchmark for the industry since 1928, anticipates The Knickerbocker will live up to its storied legacy. Originally opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV, the Hotel exemplified the high culture of the Gilded Age and served as a nexus for society’s crème de la crème. As the rumored birthplace of the original martini and the first hotel to offer a true multidimensional lifestyle experience, The Knickerbocker has witnessed and influenced over a century of New York history. Infusing its past with the rhythm of modern New York, The Knickerbocker will epitomize ‘classic reinvented,’ appealing to Gen X, Gen Y and Baby Boomers alike.

Leading up to its 2014 debut, The Knickerbocker will reveal a series of announcements including a partnership with an internationally acclaimed architecture and interior design firm, instilling its renowned luxe aesthetic into the Hotel’s 330 spacious guestrooms, including 40 suites. Future announcements will unveil a collaboration with one of the most recognized master chefs in New York to oversee the hotel’s dedicated food & beverage program, including a signature restaurant and bar on the fourth-floor, a ground-level boulangerie, and an iconic 7,500-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace offering an enticing panorama of New York City’s vibrant skyline; the perfect juxtaposition of contemporary design with historical architecture.

About The Knickerbocker

Slated to open in 2014, The Knickerbocker will be a monument to New York’s coming of age. Originally opened in 1906 by John Jacob Astor IV, The Knickerbocker welcomed both glitterati and dignitaries, offering the first true multidimensional lifestyle experience. Registered as a New York City Landmark since 1988, the legacy of The Knickerbocker returns to the southeast corner of 42nd Street, between Broadway and Bryant Park, revealing an elegant, urban hotel offering 330 guest rooms including 40 suites, a renowned fitness program, event space for up to 250 guests, signature restaurant and bar, a ground-level boulangerie and a 7,500-square-foot rooftop bar and terrace with unrivaled views of Times Square and New York City’s effervescent skyline.
