Meliá Palas Atenea, an emblematic hotel on the Paseo Marítimo promenade in Palma de Mallorca, has presented the results of a renovation which aims to improve its positioning and meet the high standards of Meliá Hotels & Resorts, one of the most well-known hotel brands in the world. With the initial renovation of 200 rooms and its spacious lobby, the hotel is added to a long list of hotels that Meliá Hotels International has renovated in Mallorca over the past few years as part of a commitment to improve the island’s tourist facilities.
Meliá Palas Atenea opened in 1974 and has since become a landmark hotel on the city’s Paseo Marítimo promenade with an excellent location opposite the marina. The recent reforms have involved a radical change in the appearance of its guestrooms, making them feel fresher and more contemporary, similar to the rooms in the modern Meliá de Mar, Meliá Madrid Princesa and Meliá Barcelona, all of which are leading hotels for the brand in Spain, and combine a sophisticated design and technology to offer a unique guest experience, orchestrated by the brand’s service culture, positioning Meliá as one of the most reputable hotel brands.
The hotel lobby has also been renovated to enhance spaciousness and elegance under the watchful eye of Álvaro Sans, the company’s leading architect. To optimize the available space and become more open to local residents, the lobby bar has been refurbished to become the striking Blue Lounge Bar – Gin Club, a great place to enjoy a selection of trendy cocktails.
The same idea was also behind the opening of the YHI Spa in 2007 and the Tapa Negra restaurant, both aiming to open up the hotel’s facilities to city residents in an unbeatable setting on the lively Paseo Marítimo in Palma.
The improvement and renovation of hotels such as the Meliá Palas Atenea reflect a Meliá Hotels International strategy to enhance brand equity, in which the hotel company is upgrading all its hotels with cutting edge features, design, new technology and complementary facilities, all with the aim of improving positioning and product differentiation based on experiences and high added value.
