Richard Solomons, Chief Executive Officer of IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group), demonstrated the company’s commitment to its people, the hotel owners, Semiramis Hotels Co, and to Egypt as a travel destination during a recent visit to the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo.
Solomons and Jan Smits, Chief Executive Officer, IHG Asia, Middle East and Africa visited the Semiramis InterContinental Cairo to thank colleagues for their support and resilience and presented the hotel a ‘Global partners in Safety’ award during a meeting which was attended by 800 colleagues.
Richard Solomons, Chief Executive Officer, IHG said: "Our teams and owners in Cairo have gone through an extremely challenging time, and I'm glad that I could personally express my gratitude for their resilience and dedication on this trip. It's easy for businesses to be committed during good times - it's a real test of commitment and leadership when things are difficult. I'm proud of our employees and business partners for staying strong and remaining true to what hospitality stands for - providing care and shelter for our guests."
IHG has worked closely with the hotel owners, Semiramis Hotels Co, and the hotel’s colleagues to continue providing a consistent guest experience that travellers have come to know and appreciate.
During his trip, Solomons also visited and met the owners of the City Stars properties. Solomons went on from Cairo, Egypt to speak at the World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) in Abu Dhabi, addressing the issue of 'Hotels: Where next for the world’s hotel brands?’
