Brand new guestrooms, dining and entertainment options expected to open by Sept. 1

Since late last year, the Plaza Hotel and Casino has undertaken an extensive renovation project, including brand new guestrooms and suites, an entirely remodeled casino floor and lobby, and all new restaurants and entertainment options.

Owners and operators of the Plaza expect to reopen the hotel and other parts of the property as soon as Sept. 1, 2011.

The all-new Plaza will feature rich marble, elegant tile accents and modern fixtures furniture, carpet and wall coverings, all purchased from the Fontainebleau resort after it suspended construction. This fresh new look capitalizes on the Plaza’s history, modernizing it throughout yet allowing the property to retain its classic Las Vegas charm.

“The renovations will transform this iconic property into a more modern, comfortable and sophisticated hotel and casino in the heart of downtown Las Vegas,” said Tony Santo, president and CEO of Play LV which operates the Plaza Hotel and Casino, the Las Vegas Club Hotel and Casino, and the Western Hotel and Casino.

“It has taken a lot of work over many months, but I’m confident that past guests will enjoy and appreciate the changes while new guests will view the updated Plaza as an exciting, new destination with more amenities and attractions than it ever had in its 40-year history,” added Santo.

The Plaza’s brand new guestrooms and suites will feature the fine furnishings originally intended for the Fontainebleau resort, such as English sycamore and walnut veneer furniture, leather desk chairs, chenille lounge chairs and linen loveseats. All of the rooms will also offer plush bed linens and luxurious marble bathrooms. With soft neutrals, dark accents and a touch of bright color, the new rooms offer a comfortable retreat with a modern feel. Amenities include in-room safes, 32-inch LCD flat-screen TVs, and private work areas with wireless high-speed Internet access.

In addition to the new guestrooms and suites, the Plaza will have a refurbished lobby with rich colors, wood accents, crystal chandeliers and black and white photography of Fremont Street and downtown creating an entry reminiscent of old Vegas glamour.

The Plaza will also offer an all new casino floor offering an array of signature and classic gaming choices as well as tempting new, casual and fine dining options and entertainment venues.

To facilitate the renovations, parts of the hotel and casino closed late last year. The property is preparing to re-open at the end of this summer with a soft opening planned for Aug. 24 for the Plaza’s annual $150,000 Super Bingo event. Guests can make room reservations now to stay at the Plaza as soon as Sept. 1.
