On June 21, 2011, every Sofitel location will temporarily become an ambassador of the Fête de la Musique.
First held in France on June 21, 1982, the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere, the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) was soon exported; today, it is an annual, international, unifying event. It is only natural for Sofitel, the international French hotel brand, to help celebrate this major cultural event around the world.
From Paris to Washington, Melbourne, Buenos Aires and Marrakech, Sofitel locations on five continents will join the party with a natural blend of French elegance and the best of local culture.
A piano soloist in the lobby, an intimate concert at the bar, a jazz band by the pool…each hotel will offer its own themed event as a tribute to Music.
In Greater China, Sofitel Macau Ponte 16 joins hands with Alliance Française for an evening French jazz and cuisine. The Greslebin trio will bring the audience a chic musical evening accompanied by a divine buffet dining experience at Mistral Restaurant, featuring live French Oysters, Foie Gras, Escargot, French cheese, desserts and free flowing French sparkling wine for guests’ enjoyment.
In South East Asia, guests at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi will be invited to celebrate at four venues, Angelina, Le Club & Bomboo Bar, Le Beaulieu and Spices Garden, where a range of musical talents will entertain. A local Jazz band will take guests back to the 60’s, DJ Cache will spin the trendiest selection of beats from around the world, and traditional Vietnamese musicians will showcase their cultural sounds. Specially designed cocktails, wine tasting and themed dinners will compliment the festival experience
Sofitel Bangkok Silom is hosting a full day music journey, starting with a sumptuous breakfast at Mistral, lunch at Shanghai 38, followed by the late afternoon Candle Ritual in the Lobby, and ending the day at V9 Wine and Dining with fine wines. Various styles of live music will fill the day and encompass the Fête de la Musique spirit.
In the Pacific region, Sofitel Sydney Wentworth in Australia will celebrate the Fête de la Musique all week long. Every evening, black and white snapshots will be projected in the lobby as French jazz band "C’est si bon" reprises the greatest standards by Edith Piaf, Yves Montand and company. The So French Martini will be offered at the special price of $14 for the event.
In Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa, Latin inspired music and Fijian melodies will be performed live at Breeze Bar and Salt Restaurant. Guests will be treated to a Kava Ceremony, an opportunity to taste the traditional Fijian beverage and enjoy complimentary nibbles at Salt Restaurant while a limited Latin inspired menu will be available at Breeze Bar.
