Juan Paredes to launch dedicated hotel service in Buenos Aires, Argentina

Jones Lang LaSalle announced today that the firm is expanding its dedicated commercial real estate offerings in Buenos Aires to include hotel operations. Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels is opening its second office in Latin America in Buenos Aires, Argentina with the hiring of another regional industry expert, Juan Paredes. Paredes will focus on Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay, and will lead the firm’s new regional hotel outpost. Paredes will partner with Shannon Robertson, Managing Director of Jones Lang LaSalle’s regional Latin America operation to serve the firm’s current and prospective client base.

“Buenos Aires is the second largest metropolitan area in South America, and has long been one of the region's top tourist destinations. Because of this, it has been an important focus of hotel development with most major brands having flagship properties there,” said Clay Dickinson, Executive Vice President, Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels. “Our expansion enhances our ability to provide critical on-the-ground expertise for clients considering opportunities in gateway markets like Buenos Aires, and also establishes a platform to help those exploring opportunities in strategic growth markets elsewhere in South America, including Chile, Peru and Colombia.”

Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels has significant operations in Latin America, including Brazil and Mexico. The firm’s Jones Lang LaSalle team also operates throughout Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Peru, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, Dominican Republic, and Uruguay.

The firm’s expansion represents the first dedicated hotel advisory expert in Argentina. The addition of Juan Paredes brings more than a decade of hospitality experience to Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels. In his role, Paredes will assist clients in a suite of services including feasibility studies, asset management, strategic planning, operator selection, management contract negotiation, consulting, industry research, project development services, transaction advisory and corporate structuring.

Paredes comes to Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels from Horwath HTL. He studied communication science atthe University of Buenos Aires with a focus on marketing. He completed his education attending different training courses at the business school of real estate at Torcuato Di Tella University and the hotel investment program at the Business Centre Education of San Andres University. He is also an active member in the real estate and hotel community in Latin America. He has a large volume of hotel consultancy experience in various countries throughout the region.

“The hiring Juan to lead the firm’s Buenos Aires hotel operations is another investment that will reinforce our presence in Latin America. We expect the firm’s Buenos Aires office to have an intensive cross-border interaction with the existing hotels leadership in our Sao Paulo, Brazil practice,” said Ricardo Mader, Director of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels.

“Since 1998, Jones Lang LaSalle’s Argentina operation has served clients looking for advice and execution on everything from hotel investment sales, valuations and financing advice to hotel asset management, operator selection, research and acquisition advice. With the addition of Juan, we now have a dedicated hotels team to serve these client needs,” added Robertson. “Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ expansion into Buenos Aires will further enable our firm to support a wide range of strategic growth initiatives for our clients in the Southern Cone.”

Juan Paredes concluded, “Latin America is an expanding market with abundant opportunities as it operates significant portion of the region’s hospitality activity. This is a unique chance to be part of Jones Lang LaSalle Hotels’ Latin American growth strategy, and extend our service to a global investor base looking to enter or capture smart investments in this vital market.”
