Midwest Hotel and Conference Center’s Exceptional Performance Strengthens Role as Community Anchor
Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista / Hotel & Conference Center has once again been named the #1 rated Embassy Suites in the world. The 257-suite hotel received the prestigious “Connie” Award for being the top performing property among the 2010 Embassy Suites Hotels brand set of more than 200 upscale, all-suite hotels throughout the United States, Canada, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Located at 12520 Westport Parkway, the contemporary hotel is owned by living hotel legend Mr. John Q. Hammons and managed by Springfield, Mo.-based John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, the nation’s leading independent builder, developer, owner and manager of upscale, full-service hotels, resorts and suites (www.jqhhotels.com). The hotel is part of the largest hotel and meeting complex in Nebraska, which also features the 100,000-gross-square-foot La Vista Conference Center and the 246-room Courtyard Omaha – La Vista, all John Q. Hammons’ properties.
“Delivering on Mr. Hammons' legacy for quality is a way of life and is the attentive approach we implement to perform every task at Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista,” said Tony Moody, general manager of the Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista / Hotel & Conference Center.
The Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista’s #1 rating is based on quality assurance audits measuring cleanliness, condition and brand standards, as well as customer scores rating staff service and the quality of the hotel’s physical accommodations. The hotel will be honored with a “Connie” trophy, named for Hilton Hotels’ founder Conrad Hilton; a monetary prize; and recognition during an upcoming on-property ceremony.
“Exceptional is the standard at John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts, and it takes quality talent and determination to deliver on this commitment of excellence day in and day out,” said Jacquie Dowdy, CEO of John Q. Hammons Hotels & Resorts and a 30-year veteran of the company. “Tony and his team represent an impressive group of hospitality professionals that demonstrate best practices in action.”
Strength as a Community Anchor
La Vista has become one of the fastest growing cities in Nebraska, attracting large companies such as Claas of America, Oriental Trading Company, PayPal, Securities America, Streck Laboratories, and Yahoo!*. With convenient access to I-80, the Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista / Hotel & Conference Center is located in the heart of Sarpy County’s 250-acre Southport business development adjacent to Cabela’s Retail Superstore. The La Vista Complex is 20 minutes from Omaha’s Eppley Airport, 40 minutes from Lincoln, and a short drive to Offutt Air Force Base, as well as to Creighton University and the University of Nebraska at Omaha, comprising a combined student population of nearly 20,000.
Prior to developing the La Vista Complex, Mr. Hammons recognized La Vista’s great potential and the role of his new hotels and conference center as a significant community anchor to attract and support Sarpy County-area business generation. One of the largest developers in the world, The Cordish Companies recently announced plans to develop an upscale outlet center and entertainment district in La Vista’s Southport West Development and estimates the first phase of the development is projected to generate approximately 1.2 million new, unique trips to the city of La Vista.**
“Our company philosophy is to exceed expectations, and we look to collaborate with businesses that share a commitment to exceptionally high standards, such as John Q. Hammons’ Embassy Suites Omaha – La Vista,” said Blake Cordish, vice president of The Cordish Companies.
