Barceló Hotels & Resorts boasts an impressive seven wins in the 2010 Check Safety First Mexico Cristal Awards for excellence in the areas of healthy and safety for seven different Mexico locations. A National win at Barceló Maya Palace Deluxe tops the list with the official award stating, “Barceló Maya Beach Resort has achieved and maintained the highest level of Health & Safety standards in the nation having excelled among all the establishments that incorporate the Cristal programme.” Regional wins were awarded to Barceló Los Cabos Palace Deluxe, Barceló Tucancun Beach, Barceló Ixtapa Beach, Barceló Karmina Palace Deluxe, Barceló Puerto Vallarta and Barceló Huatulco Beach. The winners are chosen from more than 1,800 hotels in Mexico and Spain that maintain an association with Check Safety First.
Every year Check Safety First Mexico presents the Cristal Awards for excellence in the areas of healthy and safety in global, national and regional categories. Check Safety First audits hotels on a frequent, often monthly, basis on their safety and health practices and procedures. The hotel is subjected to over 250 control points, by a professional auditor on site, which must be answered positively to recieve their recommendation. A recognition by Check Safety First means that the owners and managers of these establishments have gone the extra step to implement safe working practices in the preparation and safety of food. They have shown over a consistent period of time that they have better standards and are therefore a lower risk.
