First Major Tournament in the Region Celebrates Reopened Fishing Waters
Today marks the beginning of the Sandestin Celebration Fishing Tournament, an event created to celebrate the favorable conditions in the Gulf of Mexico plus the reopening of Federal fishing waters.
This tournament will bring the fishing and boating community together to show the world that Florida's Emerald Coast is in full operation for positive travel, tourism and fishing experiences. The Sandestin Celebration Fishing Tournament will be the first major fishing tournament in the region for the season. "This event is an opportunity for anglers to get out there and enjoy what they love to do as well as for their families to enjoy all the amenities the resort has to offer," said Tournament Director Shawna Meisner.
The venue, Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, Baytowne Marina and The Village of Baytowne Wharf will have activities and entertainment throughout the weekend. Bring the entire family out for events, nightly weigh-ins on Friday and Saturday and enjoy activities for all ages.

Tournament categories will include Blue Marlin, Dolphin, Tuna, Wahoo, Swordfish, King Mackerel, Amberjack, Grouper and catch and release for Blue Marin, White Marlin, Swordfish, Sailfish, Spearfish. See www.sandestin.com/fish for details.
The Destin History and Fishing Museum will benefit from this community event, their mission is to preserve and honor the history of Destin, Florida The Luckiest Fishing Village in the World. Additional charities supported are The Billfish Foundation and Harvest House.
