The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village has captured Meetings & Conventions magazine’s prestigious “2010 Gold Tee Award,” which is given annually to the finest golf/meeting properties in the world, as selected by the magazine’s readers. This marks the sixth consecutive year that the resort has captured the award. Together with the adjoining St. Johns County Convention Center and the adjacent World Golf Hall of Fame, the 301-room Northeast Florida resort is the largest combination hotel and conference center between Atlanta and Orlando, with 86,000 square feet of meeting and event space.
Winners of the highly-respected award were nominated and selected by the readers of the magazine based on their overall experience. This included overall staff attitude, quality of guest service, range of recreation facilities, quality of the guest rooms and meeting facilities, proficiency of handling reservations, and availability of technical/support equipment. All winning hotels and resorts will be highlighted in Meetings & Conventions’ special Golf supplement in its July 2010 issue.
“The meeting industry’s most well-regarded critics, the readers of M&C, have made their selections for the best in the world. M&C’s core readership, of over 60,000 corporate, incentive and association meeting planners, know quality when they experience it and again have made their votes count, selecting the golf properties they believed to be outstanding,” said Bernard W. Schraer, Meetings & Conventions Vice President, Group Publisher. “Our entire staff solutes the 74 properties worldwide that have distinguished themselves in this industry and earned the Gold Tee honor.”
Mark Schwantner, general manager of The Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village, said, “This is a highly sought after award, and we’re very pleased that our resort and exceptional staff are again recognized with this prestigious honor. It shows what an outstanding choice The Renaissance Resort is for meetings, incentive groups, and conventions. Not only does the resort have an array of wonderful recreational offerings to appeal to any group, but we have a beautifully-renovated resort, and are consistently recognized for providing first-class service too.”
A great way to experience the award-winning resort is by taking advantage of its “Stay and Play Golf Package” this summer. The package includes: deluxe accommodations in a newly-remodeled room for one night; one round of golf on the resort’s popular Slammer & Squire championship course or renowned King & Bear championship course, per golfer; breakfast daily; and range balls. In addition, the package includes a World Golf Hall of Fame ticket for each golfer, which provides admission to the World Golf Hall of Fame, admission to a film at the World Golf Hall of Fame’s IMEX Theater (a non special engagement film); and a round on the Hall of Fame’s 18-hole championship putting course for each golfer. Based on two golfers in the room, the package is from $279 per room, per night. Based on one golfer, the rate is from $179 per room, per night. The package is available through August 31, 2010, based on space availability. Located within the lush 6,300-acre World Golf Village right next to the World Golf Hall of Fame, the resort completed a comprehensive $10 million renovation in July 2008. The project included the complete remodeling of all 301 guest rooms and suites, dramatic changes to the resort’s lobby atrium and entry area, remodeling all guest room corridors, an expanded fitness center with new state-of-the-art equipment, remodeling of its billiard room, and enhancements to the meeting space and business center. The resort also remodeled its restaurant and bar, which opened as a new restaurant and bar called 500 South, An American Grill.
Guest rooms and suites now feature new furniture, soft goods, window treatments, lighting, flat-panel screen LCD HDTV televisions, and the signature Marriott JackPack, which provides connectivity for laptops, MP3 players, digital cameras, and video game players. The rooms and suites feature a contemporary design with an Asian feel, which includes rich red bed coverings with crisp white linens, and warm neutral gold accents. In-room offerings also include high-speed Internet access, two telephones with data ports, a wet bar, refrigerator, and in-room coffee.
The entry of the resort boasts beautiful new flooring, wood-wrapped columns, and accents of the Florida citrus colors. The entry leads to a dramatically remodeled 10-story atrium lobby, which now has a Colonial/Asian theme with new furniture, carpeting and foliage, as well as a colorful new 7-story modern hanging sculpture that captures the wind and air elements, reminiscent of open Florida skies.
