Preferred Hotels & Resorts, a brand of Preferred Hotel Group and a collection of more than 200 of the world's most desirable destinations, is pleased to announce its first member in Taipei – Palais de Chine Hotel.

As the flagship hotel of Taiwan-based L'Hotel de Chine Group, the newly opened Palais de Chine Hotel is unique in Taipei for its French aristocratic ambiance with an Asian aesthetic; ornate interiors of plush fabrics, imported furniture, and antique pieces fill every corner of the hotel. Conveniently located for both business and leisure travelers, it is next to the city's transportation hub, making it easy to travel whether one is moving within the city or connecting to other parts of Taiwan. It is part of a new development comprising shopping and entertainment and is within walking distance to key attractions such as the night markets, Ximending, Longshang Temple, and Museum of Contemporary Art.

The 286 guestrooms and suites are elegantly appointed with Art Deco-meets-Oriental design touches, some offering city views of Taipei's west. Created exclusively for L'Hotel de Chine hotels, the E-Butler in-room technology is a sophisticated and user-friendly service accessible through the television. With E-Butler, guests can control air-conditioning, lighting, and music; view monthly-updated free movies on-demand; and check airport and railway schedules. Work desks are conveniently oversized and equipped with a media hub for connecting electronic devices to the room's television.

The hotel's dining venues offer upscale experiences, featuring a French-inspired grill restaurant with a specially designed wood-fired oven, a Cantonese restaurant, a European-themed tea house, and a lounge bar. Recreational facilities include a fitness center and outdoor pool. The luxurious, Paris Opera–inspired ballroom, with its chandeliers and handmade copper drapery from the high ceiling, can accommodate 30 tables (or 202 people) theatre-style. There are four other function rooms, all equipped with cutting-edge meeting facilities and amenities, such as electronic projector screens, floor spotlights, wireless Internet access, and skylights.

"Unique by design and with a distinct creative flair, Palais de Chine Hotel is a showcase of how an upscale independent hotel can really differentiate themselves from a chain property," said Mark Simmons, area managing director – Asia, Preferred Hotel Group. "Taipei is an important city for us as we continue to grow in key gateway locations in Asia, and we are thrilled to have our first Preferred Hotel Group member in Taiwan represented by Palais de Chine in our premium brand, Preferred Hotels & Resorts."

With over 20 years experience in Taipei's hospitality business, Palais de Chine General Manager Achim V. Hake, calls Palais de Chine's cooperation with Preferred Hotels & Resorts a "preferred" marriage. "Complying with Preferred's stringent international brand and service standards, the hotel offers a great location and a sophisticated product," he said. "We look forward to a successful partnership where the hotel will benefit greatly from Preferred's global reach in marketing and sales, and in return, the Preferred portfolio is also enhanced by Palais de Chine's addition."
