STORY SUMMARY:
As the economy picks up steam, the hospitality industry is seeing a positive trend: an increase in meetings and the rise of doing business face-to-face. Starwood has seen a 30 percent increase in meetings this year as companies have increased travel budgets and are getting back on the road. In response to this, Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc. and PepsiCo., Inc. have joined forces to launch a major initiative for meeting planners with the "Get More for your Meeting, Give More to your Community" promotion.
The program offers exclusive savings and the chance to win one of four $50,000 charity grants. Meeting planners who book a meeting by July 31, 2010 and hold their meeting by December 31, 2010 will receive four percent (4%) off their master account, a complimentary Pepsi food and beverage break and up to 100k Starpoints signing bonus.
The company will unveil the promotion with a $50,000 contribution to Bette Midler's New York Restoration Project charity and an employee volunteer event to restore the East Harlem Community Gardens led by Starwood CEO Frits van Paasschen. More than 100 Starwood associates will devote their day to restoring and beautifying the East Harlem Community Gardens in Upper Manhattan.
