Preferred Hotels & Resorts, a brand of Preferred Hotel Group and a collection of more than 200 of the world's most desirable destinations and newly discovered havens, is pleased to announce its second member in Tokyo – The Capitol Hotel Tokyu.
Scheduled to open in October 2010, The Capitol Hotel Tokyu will be the new flagship of Tokyu Hotels. The 29-story building designed by world-famous design architect Kengo Kuma, with its latticework-inspired exterior design, evokes a traditional Japanese aesthetic. Situated in Akasaka in downtown Tokyo, the hotel will be close to four different subway lines and a short distance from the Prime Minister's official residence and other government buildings. Located next to the tranquil and beautiful surroundings of Hie Shrine, Capitol Hotel Tokyu will represent a new era of sophistication whilst maintaining true Japanese spirituality and harmony with nature.
Most of the 251 rooms are located from the 18th floor to the 29th floor with amazing views of Tokyo's skyline. Facilities include five restaurants and bars, five banquet spaces, and fitness facilities featuring a 20-meter indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and outdoor Jacuzzi.
"We are extremely pleased to partner with another prominent Japanese hospitality brand to represent its newest and most luxurious property in Tokyo," said Mark Simmons, area managing director – Asia, Preferred Hotel Group. "Capitol Hotel Tokyu will be a great ambassador for the Preferred Hotels & Resorts brand in Japan, representing individuality and sophistication with cultural sensibility."
"The Capitol Hotel Tokyu is a new type of luxury hotel in Tokyo that adopts Japanese tradition and culture as its core theme. We believe that our association with Preferred Hotels & Resorts will help with our brand positioning and marketing to guests globally and hope that our partnership continues and strengthens for the foreseeable future", said Susumu Togashi, general manager of The Capitol Hotel Tokyu.
