The $60 Million, 18-month Renovation Results in Stylish, Contemporary Upgrades to Guestrooms, Restaurant, Lobby and Health Club

The Hilton Anaheim, the largest hotel in the Los Angeles/Orange County region, has revealed the results of a contemporary and upscale renovation. The 1,572-room hotel is located next to the Anaheim Convention Center and one block from Disneyland® Resort. After its remarkable transformation, the Hilton Anaheim now offers completely redesigned guestrooms, meeting space, lobby, restaurant and health club.

Since purchasing the hotel in 2007, the Hilton Anaheim’s owner, an affiliate of Makar Properties, LLC, has invested more than $60 million to reinvigorate the property with state-of-the-art technology, modern facilities and inviting style throughout the hotel’s guestrooms and public spaces. By capitalizing on its proximity to the Anaheim Convention Center (just steps from the hotel) and world-class leisure offerings, Makar Properties has reinvented the hotel as the ultimate Southern California destination for conventions, meetings and family vacations.

“For Makar, the Hilton Anaheim project has been not only about renovating this landmark property but also investing in the future of Anaheim as a key destination in the region,” said Paul Makarechian, President & CEO, Makar Properties. “Building on the hotel’s existing strengths, we have convened the creative resources of skilled designers and craftsmen to create a modern and sophisticated hotel that will continue to serve the community for many years.”

New Lobby, New Dining Concept
Designed by the San Francisco-based firm Puccini Group, whose high profile projects can be seen around the world, the new Hilton Anaheim lobby is a soothing escape from the surrounding urban elements.

The focal point of the central lobby is Mix Lounge, a sleek and sophisticated new gathering place featuring a massive backlit onyx bar surrounded by inviting seating areas. A waterfall glides over a stone sculpture in the center of the room. To entice guests to indulge their senses, Mix Lounge offers Roederer Cristal champagne by the glass.

Adjacent to the lounge is Mix Restaurant, an innovative new dining concept. Helmed by Director of Food & Beverage Carlos Acosta and Executive Chef Fred Mensinga, Mix offers a completely new menu with an emphasis on fresh, natural produce and satisfying, globally-inspired flavors. Signature items include a hearty Kobe-style Burger, delicious Five-Cheese Quesadilla with Green Tomatillo Sauce and Thai-inspired Pan-Fried Rockfish. Natural, hormone-free chicken is delivered daily.

The modern new registration area welcomes guests with warmth and style. An existing artwork, a 40-foot sculptural mural by renowned Orange County artist Dora de Larios, has taken on a new prominence when surrounded by the darker, earthier tones of the new lobby. Just off the registration area, the hotel’s Starbucks Marketplace was recently upgraded and refreshed.

“The lobby is the heart of any hotel and sets the tone for the entire guest experience,” said Harold Rapoza, general manager of the Hilton Anaheim. “As a result of this remarkable transformation, our new lobby is contemporary, serene and inspiring. It is a place where people want to gather, work, dine and entertain.”

Redesigned Guestrooms
All 1,572 guestrooms have been completely redesigned and offer a luxurious Hilton Serenity Bed, 32” or larger LCD television, Cuisinart single-cup coffeemaker, an adjustable work desk with ergonomic chair, and a digital panel that allows guests to connect and charge several digital devices at once. Concepted by the renowned L.A.-based firm CRA, the design elements of the guestrooms include dark ebony wood tones set against crisp white linens and pale, warm wall colors. Cozy lighting and contemporary original artwork complete the look. The renovated guest bathrooms feature Kohler fixtures, granite countertops and deluxe showerheads.

The hotel offers 93 suites, including 44 newly created studio suites that are perfectly suited for business travelers with oversized living/sleeping areas and junior conference tables with ergonomic chairs. The 45 additional suites vary in size and include four stunning Presidential Suites that are ideally suited to the needs of the most demanding VIP guests.

Health Club at Hilton Anaheim
The upgraded Health Club at Hilton Anaheim is a 25,000-square-foot, full-service fitness and wellness facility with state-of-the-art equipment, an indoor saltwater swimming pool, group exercise classes and a full menu of spa services. Daily, multi-day and monthly memberships are available.

The Health Club now offers Hilton Fitness by Precor® cardio equipment with individual entertainment systems and an extensive selection of new weight training machines and free weights in a contemporary setting. High-energy group exercise classes include Spinning®, yoga, muscle conditioning and Rowbics™, a new fitness system making its Anaheim debut at this facility.

Renovation and Renewal
Owned by an affiliate of developer Makar Properties – owners of the St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach – the Hilton Anaheim has undergone a dramatic, $60-million renewal. The hotel’s 100,000 square feet of meeting and event space was completely redone in late 2007. As one of the largest hotels in California, the sheer size and scale of the renovation project is significant. The glass-clad high-rise hotel sits on Convention Way, adjacent to the Anaheim Convention Center and a block from Disneyland Resort.

Backed by a highly experienced staff and industry-leading innovations such as the Hilton Eat Naturally sustainable catering menu, the Hilton Anaheim can accommodate groups of almost any size with two newly remodeled ballrooms, each capable of accommodating 1,800 people for a sit-down dinner. Built in 1984, the timing was perfect for a thorough renovation that would renew the hotel's premier status as a top destination hotel for Anaheim and all of Orange County.
