Limited number of berths available
Island Global Yachting (IGY), the luxury marina developer and management company, has today announced the release of berths at Anchor Marina on Palm Jumeirah to members of the public around the world
The luxury Anchor Marina is set to open in the first quarter of 2009 and will be the first operational marina on Palm Jumeirah, providing state-of-the-art facilities to yacht owners. The opportunity for the public to secure a marina berth follows a phased release of berths, firstly to brokers and charter operators and earlier in November 2008 to Palm Jumeirah residents, through an online auction, which received over 1100 visitors to the website.
The available berthing agreements are for a five year period and are limited to one berth per person. The available berths will be located on both the East and West side of Anchor Marina for yachts between 10–30m in length, inclusively.
Michael Horrigan, CEO Middle East and Europe, IGY said:
“It is a pleasure to be opening up Anchor Marina berths to the public. It is a wonderful opportunity for yacht owners to secure berths within this landmark marina and provide them with the chance of a berth in this highly sought after region. With the current short supply of berths in the UAE, many owners have had to leave their yachts in other locations such as the Caribbean and Mediterranean. With our marina developments in the Middle East we hope to supply enough berths to meet the increasing demand.
“This announcement also marks the final stages of Anchor Marina’s development before its opening at the beginning of 2009. This is a highly prestigious project for us and one that we believe will enhance Dubai’s reputation as a world class yachting destination. We have worked hard to create a marina which matches all the needs of the yachting community and complements the iconic Palm Jumeirah.”
Anchor Marina, delivered in partnership with Nakheel, represents one of IGY’s most prestigious projects. The marina’s 590 berths will provide yachts, between 10-30m in length, modern infrastructural elements such as spacious concrete pontoons in conjunction with some of the most modern technology available to boat owners, including LED illumination, underwater lighting, wireless internet connections and personalized concierge services.
To reflect the prestige that is associated with Palm Jumeirah, great care has been taken to ensure that the structure and quality of service experienced at Anchor Marina will position it as one of the world’s most well-appointed marinas. It will offer guests the choice of two clubhouses; one located on Anchor Marina East and the other on Anchor Marina West. The East Clubhouse will be designed for families whilst the West Clubhouse will have a sophisticated atmosphere with fine dining restaurants.
