The Second Regent Development in the Middle East Scheduled to Open 2013
Regent Hotels & Resorts (www.regenthotels.com) announces The Regent Doha, the latest in the luxury brand’s global expansion. The second Regent development in the Middle East, The Regent Doha will open in the Qatar capital in 2013.
The Regent Doha will feature 365 guestrooms, including five bungalows, as well as three signature restaurants, two bars and a pool café. The hotel’s spa will include massage and treatment rooms and a steam bath, as well as wellness facilities including squash courts, a fitness center and an indoor swimming pool. The Regent Doha’s meetings and events features will include a ballroom, business center, executive lounge and several meeting rooms.
“We are pleased to announce the second Regent development in the Middle East,” said Bjørn Gullaksen, President, The Regent Luxury Group. “Coupled with the 2010 debut of The Regent Emirates Pearl Abu Dhabi, The Regent Doha will bring The Regent Experience to an important new global destination.”
The Regent Doha will be located in the capital city’s Vin Mahmoud district, less than two miles from the Persian Gulf and four miles from Doha International Airport.
The hotel will be a dynamic part of the city’s changing skyline. The latest in Qatar’s surge in travel and hospitality developments, the hotel will join tourism projects such as The Pearl-Qatar, a 2,500-square-mile man-made island in the city’s West Bay Lagoon and featuring international retail, restaurant and entertainment outlets; the Museum of Islamic Arts; coastal mixed-use development Lusail City; the Exhibition Center at Education City, an international university and research forum; and the Bahrain-Qatar Causeway, the “Friendship Bridge” linking the two countries’ capitals.
The Regent Doha also marks the latest in Regent’s global expansion. In addition to The Regent Emirates Pearl Abu Dhabi (2010), upcoming developments include The Regent Maldives (2009); The Regent Phuket Cape Panwa, Thailand (2009); The Regent Manila Bay, the Philippines (2010); The Regent Bangkok, Thailand (2010); The Regent Dubrovnik, Croatia (2011); The Regent Palmas del Mar Puerto Rico (2011); and The Regent Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2011).
