The Rezidor Hotel Group announces the Radisson Hotel Maputo in Mozambique – the 150 room-property is scheduled to open its doors in Q2 2010. “With this signing we add a new country to our portfolio and are now present in 54 nations”, said Kurt Ritter, President & CEO of Rezidor. “The Radisson Hotel Maputo further underlines our growth ambitions in Africa and the Middle East – this year alone, we have contracted 17 new projects with more than 4,200 rooms for our massive pipeline in the region which constitutes of 34% of our total pipeline”, continued Ritter.

Maputo is the largest city of Mozambique with the country's most important harbor. It is situated at the mouth of the Tembe River in the extreme south; 90 km from the border to South Africa. Due to its proximity to this country it is a favorite destination for South African incentive groups, meetings & conferences and short breaks.

With spectacular Indian Ocean views this five star Radisson will offer local and international business and leisure travellers a new address conveniently located on the main beach road – on a site featuring three architectural masterpieces: a 12-storey hotel tower and two taller, identical office towers. Adjacent to the hotel is the International Conference Centre of Maputo, as well as various embassies, consulates and the casino nearby. Besides 150 contemporary guest rooms the Radisson hotel will comprise conference and meeting facilities, a lobby lounge bar, a pool bar, a cocktail bar, an all day restaurant (all including terraces), fitness facilities, an outdoor swimming pool, and three retail shops. Maputo International Airport is situated 5 km from the property.
The owner of the future Radisson hotel is the Mozambique company Fenix Projectos e Investimentos.
