Amadeus, a global leader in technology and distribution solutions for the travel and tourism industry, today announced the promotion of Fernando Cuesta to the role of Executive Director, Middle East and Africa (MEA).
Prior to this, Fernando was Senior Regional Manager for MEA, a role he held since January 2006. In this role, Cuesta has led significant strategic projects and initiatives as the head of the Amadeus Middle East and Africa team. Among these were the successful commercial negotiations with the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO), which resulted in exclusive 10-year distribution partnerships with thirteen leading airlines in the region.
In his new role, Fernando Cuesta will be responsible for regional development, implementation of Amadeus' distribution strategy, sales and market share growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction in the MEA region.
Fernando has 17 years of strategic, operational and financial experience with worldwide leading Telecommunications, Business Diversification, Distribution and Media firms. He joined Amadeus as Manager, Business Development (America and Europe) in 2000, where he was responsible for e-commerce for the European, Latin American and US markets.
A Spanish native, Fernando has a Bachelor's degree in Economics and Business Administration from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the Instituto de Empresa and a Master’s degree (MAM) from the IESE Business School.
