Meridia Capital Hospitality I and Capital Hospitality Group announced the acquisition of a 50% stake in a three¬hotel portfolio located in Thailand. All three hotels, with a total of 500 rooms, are operated under a management agreement by Six Senses Resorts & Spas.
Evason Phuket Resort & Six Senses Spa is located at Rawai Beach on the South Eastern side of Phuket, Thailand's largest island. It is set amongst 64 acres of beautifully landscaped tropical gardens, facing the Andaman Sea. The resort has 260 guestrooms, suites, pool villas and pool duplexes dispersed amongst five low rise buildings in a tropical garden setting. Over the coming months, and as part of a repositioning plan, the new JV intends to upgrade the property and rebrand it to the recently launched Six Senses Latitudes concept. Refurbishing works also contemplate the addition of new residential pool villas.

Evason Hua Hin Resort & Six Senses Spa is located at Pranburi, around 23 kilometres South of Hua Hin and 230 kilometres from Bangkok. The 145 luxurious rooms are complemented with 40 large stand¬alone private pool villas. Guestrooms feature a fresh and unconventional design, which is entirely new for Hua Hin.

Six Senses Hideaway in Hua Hin comprises 55 pool villas. Accommodations provide generous personal space and resent an uncompromised standard of luxury offering elegantly designed architecture and natural furnishings, positioned with an image supporting the Six Senses Hideaway theme - Redefining Experiences. The prestigious Condé Nast Traveller placed the Six Senses Hideaway at Hua Hin on their Gold List 2007 as the hotel with the best rooms.

Javier Faus, Chairman & CEO of Meridia Capital, said 'Thailand is an exciting new destination for Meridia Capital and Six Senses is a welcome addition to our growing portfolio. We expect this deal to be the first of many with Six Senses and Capital Hospitality Group'. Sonu Shivdasani, Six Senses' Chairman & CEO, added "We are delighted to be working together with Meridia on this transaction. The Evason was the first resort to be built in the Phuket area and the property thus benefits from a unique location. It is our intention to maximise the potential of this property".
