Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca becomes sixth Spanish property
Hilton Hotels Corporation (HHC) has announced the opening of its first hotel in Mallorca with the launch of the Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca. The hotel, the sixth Hilton to open in Spain, will be operated under a long-term franchise agreement with owning company Dracplus S.L, part of the Drac Group, and Gestión T3 Hoteles SA, who will manage the property.
Welcoming the opening of the hotel, Wolfgang M. Neumann, President of Hilton Hotels Europe, said: “This unique property marks the latest step in our strategy to grow Hilton’s Family of Hotels in Spain and Portugal to over 50 properties within the next five years. The debut of our first hotel in Mallorca comes in the same month as the opening of our Hilton Madrid Airport, indicating the progress we are making to achieve this target.”
“Whilst Mallorca’s tourism market is well established, there is significant demand within the upmarket segment for both leisure and MICE travel. With Spain’s third largest airport, Mallorca is one of the most accessible and popular island destinations in the Mediterranean, attracting around 25 million visitors each year. We are confident that Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca’s unique design and state-of-the-art facilities will help to position this property as one of the island’s leading high end hotels for both leisure and business guests alike.”
Neumann added: “We are also delighted to be working with the Drac Group and T3 Hotels and look forward to welcoming guests to experience Hilton’s unique brand of hospitality.”
Vicente Grande, President of the Drac Group and owner of the hotel, said: “Following the careful restoration of one of Mallorca’s most historic properties, Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca is set to become the island’s premier resort destination. With Hilton’s global presence and reputation as one of the world’s leading hotel brands, combined with
Drac Group’s significant experience in the local market, we are confident that this hotel will be a real success."
Built around an impressive 14th Century tower and ‘finca’, Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca has undergone a major restoration programme. Its new design has remained faithful to its traditional Mallorcan architecture, whilst combining a crisp and modern interior. Spread over 12 different buildings, the hotel’s 90 spacious guest rooms, including 15 well appointed suites, showcase a contemporary look and feel and offer the very latest in-room technology, such as high speed internet access and flat screen LCD televisions. In the hotel’s historic manor house building, a combination of antique
furniture and clever interior design have been used to restore many of its rooms to their former glory.
Located near Maioris Golf Club, and only a short drive from some of Mallorca’s best beaches, the hotel is the perfect choice for leisure and golf breaks. To cater for the leisure market Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca provides a wide range of state-of-the-art facilities to help guests relax and unwind. Situated amongst landscaped gardens, the extensive outdoor grounds feature two outdoor swimming pools- one of which is
heated- a separate children’s pool, two tennis courts and a full size football pitch. A fully equipped spa and fitness club offers a range of facilities, such as beauty
treatment rooms, an indoor pool with water jets, a Hilton Fitness by Precor gym®, as well as a ‘hydrotherapy circuit’ featuring steam room, sauna, aquadom, ice fountain
and sensation shower.
Using fresh, local produce and ingredients the Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca’s Arixiduc and Santacilia restaurants serve up the very best in regional, Mediterranean and international cuisine. The stylish Sa Clastra bar provides the perfect retreat to relax and sample a wide range of refreshments, from sparkling wines* to tea and coffee
served with the island’s traditional sweet specialities.
Meanwhile, for the conference and incentive market the Sa Torre Conference Centre offers two separate ballrooms, catering for up to up to 250 people, two private boardrooms and ten fully equipped Hilton meeting rooms. These facilities are complimented by high speed WiFi internet access and complimentary parking. The hotel also features a 19th Century neo gothic chapel set in beautiful gardens, making it ideal for civil weddings and receptions, whilst a restored windmill provides a unique backdrop for gala lunches and dinner functions.
Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca enjoys a secluded position in the south of the island, yet is within easy access of historic Palma and only 22 kilometres from the island’s international airport.
Ton Lodder, CEO of T3 Hotels, commented “Having successfully launched Hilton Buenavista Toledo last year we are very much looking forward to building upon our partnership with Hilton to establish this new property as one of the best hotels on the island”.
Last year Hilton added two new hotels on the Spanish mainland, Hilton Valencia and Hilton Buenavista Toledo, as well as opening their first property on the Algarve.
Today’s opening also marks the second Spanish debut in June, with the opening of Hilton Madrid Airport earlier this month.
Hilton has named the Iberian Peninsula as one of its key development regions, joining Russia, the UK & Ireland, Italy, Germany, Turkey and Poland as core strategic
areas for the introduction of the Hilton Family of hotels in Europe. The opening of Hilton Sa Torre Mallorca reflects the dynamic growth across Spain and Portugal, with contracts signed to open two further new properties in Quinta Do Lago and Lisbon. Over the next 5 years, the company anticipates it will introduce more than 50 Hilton Family hotels across the Iberian Peninsula.
In addition to the two new Spanish properties, HHC expects to introduce a further ten new hotels across continental Europe in 2008, in addition to a ‘re-launch’ of the
renowned Rome Cavalieri hotel, which is expected to re-open its doors under The Waldorf=Astoria Collection banner this spring.
