New-build 200-room InterContinental hotel and 264-room Holiday Inn hotel to open in prestigious residential suburb of Mayur Vihar in 2011
IHG (InterContinental Hotels Group) has signed an agreement with leading Indian real estate developer Eros to manage two new hotels – a 200-room InterContinental and a 264-room Holiday Inn – in the capital city of New Delhi.
Both hotels will be developed as part of an integrated complex in the prestigious residential suburb of Mayur Vihar in East Delhi. The hotels will be linked to shopping malls, offices and premium residences, with easy access to nearby technology parks, industrial belts and places of interest. Construction has commenced and opening is scheduled for 2011.
Michael Herrmann, director of operations, IHG Southwest Asia, said: “These two new strategically located hotels will appeal to corporate and leisure travellers and will showcase global InterContinental and Holiday Inn brand standards. This signing enhances IHG’s aggressive growth across India and further strengthens the company’s long-term relationship with Eros.”
Amit Rai Sood, director at Eros, said: “The unique location of both the InterContinental and Holiday Inn within the new integrated complex will give us the opportunity of targeting a wide market segment. The partnership will combine our experience in property development and IHG’s strength in hotel management to ensure future success.”
Across India, IHG has an operating portfolio of 13 hotels and an additional 20 hotels under development.
