Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts took over the then Hotel Handelshof in March 1983. After various conversion works on the hotel itself in recent years, renovation work was completed on the restaurant just in time for the 25th anniversary of the Mövenpick Hotel Essen.
The popular Au Premier Restaurant on the first floor of the Mövenpick Hotel has been renamed and is now called the Handelshof Restaurant. Not only the name was changed, however; the interior now provides a warm welcome with its modern design and inviting colors. The complete menu with a changing variety of taste treats for young and old is also new.
The Handelshof Restaurant in the Mövenpick Hotel Essen is open daily from 6.30 a.m. to 11 p.m. The elaborate breakfast buffet ensures that guests get a good start to the day. Business lunches with a balanced 3-course menu are guaranteed to last no longer than one hour. The Kaffee “Bodenlos” tempts visitors with in-house cakes and bakery delights in the afternoon, and guests can enjoy evening dinners ranging from traditional Swiss dishes to regional and international creations in an unforgettable ambience. The late-riser breakfast will still be offered on weekends along with regional and international dishes that change at regular intervals.
The new restaurant marks the completion of a series of renovation and conversion work. In 2003, all of the event rooms were air conditioned. One year later, Jimmy’s Bar was renovated and doubled in size. Finally, the hotel rooms underwent a facelift including new bathrooms. And two years ago, air conditioning went into operation throughout the building.
