Jake’s, an oasis from deadlines and tempers in the beaten track of Treasure Beach, offers guests even more relaxation with the opening of its Driftwood Spa. Named for the natural local elements used in its architecture, Jake’s Driftwood Spa lies nestled in a quiet seaside cove and contains two spacious, outdoor treatmentrooms on a coral stone deck. Body-and-soul nourishing treatments with a unique holistic menu make way for a stress-free getaway.

“Many travelers come to Jake’s for a little soul-searching,” said Jason Henzell, Island Outpost President and owner of Jake’s. “Our new Driftwood Spa guides guests towards that reconnection, with either themselves or a loved one. The spa’s holistic approach, combined with the use of Caribbean Essentials, an amazing line of all natural Jamaican products, will complete the blissful experience one has during a holiday at Jake’s.”

A handful of delectable treatments make up the very selective, sensual menu at Jake’s Driftwood Spa. Each integrates a core blend of oils from the Caribbean Essentials product line— Rapture, Restore and Release. Guests can select from wraps, scrubs, facials, reflexology, aromatherapy, hot stone and Swedish massage treatments, as well as manicures and pedicures. Delicious treats include the Bona Fide Blue Mountain Coffee Scrub, Exotic Ginger and Lemongrass Scrub, Stoned Love (hot stone massage), the Treasure Beach Melon Drench, Mocha Rum Wrap and an array of Traveller’s Tonics (massages) set to stimulate, calm, awaken, rebalance and purify.

“I developed Caribbean Essentials with places like Jake’s in mind,” said Linda Hall the independent spa consultant and holistic therapist who worked closely with the team at Jake’s to develop the treatments and conceptualize the project. “The property exudes a genuinely Jamaican vibe and charm that I just knew would work naturally with my holistic approach to spa. Locals have always used herbs in teas and baths for medicinal purposes. I developed Caribbean Essentials by pulling on the core of these healing rituals, adding a bit of honey here, some sweet orange and rosemary there, a little rum and brown sugar and so on. There’s nothing in my mixtures that doesn’t have a purpose!”

Guests and locals mingle cheerfully at Jake's, a 29-room resort, set on six acres of land. Dramatic cottages commune with the garden, sea and sky, near a secluded fishing village. The bohemian atmosphere comes as no surprise: Jake's is run by the Henzell family, also responsible for Jimmy Cliff's The Harder They Come, the hippest Caribbean film of all time.
