Marriott is the first hotel company to offer organic flowers at events & meetings

With more than 35 million U.S. consumers spending $209 billion annually on socially and environmentally responsible products*, Marriott (NYSE:MAR) becomes the first hotel company to offer its customers organic and sustainably-grown flowers for their events and meetings. Through a partnership with Organic Style Ltd., customers can get these beautiful flowers for their weddings, meetings and other events at prices competitive with comparable, high-quality, non-organic flowers at participating Marriott and Renaissance Hotels in North America.

“Our customers want to do business with companies that share their values. They are asking more and more what Marriott is doing to protect the environment. We are thrilled to team up with Organic Style and offer our customers sustainably-grown flowers that help protect the environment,” said Robin Uler, senior vice president, lodging operations.

Organic Style, with their flagship floral brand, Organic Bouquet, is widely recognized as the pioneer of the U.S. eco-flower market. Their flowers are grown with organic and ecological farming practices to improve the quality of farm working conditions, minimize damage to ecosystems, conserve biodiversity, and enhance environmental quality for future generations.

“We are extremely proud to be part of and support Marriott’s decisive and bold environmental initiatives,” said Gerald Prolman, CEO of Organic Style Ltd. “Marriott’s progressive leadership to promote certified sustainable flowers is a huge step towards creating a healthy future for farm workers and the environment.”

Customers can order floral arrangements of organic and certified sustainably-grown flowers –including roses, tulips, gerbera daisies and hydrangea – through their event or catering manager, who will work with their local preferred florists. For more information, customers can contact their local Marriott or Renaissance hotel event or catering manager.

Marriott’s commitment to the environment spans more than 20 years. Focus areas include: water and energy conservation, clean air initiatives, reduce-reuse-recycle waste management, clean-up campaigns, and wildlife preservation. Marriott leads the industry with more than 250 ENERGY STAR hotels and, the company is on track to reduce its carbon footprint by one million tons over 10 years from 2000 to 2010. The company has been recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency with the Sustained Excellence Award and Partner of the Year since 2004.
