Unveils New Luxurious Look for Rooms and Restaurant Public Areas

The Leela Goa, a luxury property managed by General Hotel Management (GHM) Limited, today announced the completion of refurbishment plans to a substantial inventory of its room interiors and restaurant public areas which commenced in April 2007. The entire refurbishment programme features improvements to the property including the upgrading and modernizing of the facilities in line with the rest of the GHM’s portfolio of luxury hotels and resorts.

Nestled in South Goa, The Leela Goa, is situated by the Arabian Sea and is bordered by the secluded Mobor Beach. Set amidst active fishing villages on the River Sal, the resort boasts sun-kissed sand, tropical palm groves and peaceful lagoons to form a self-contained villa enclave. This oceanfront resort has a harmonious blend of eastern and western culture: Viz. 13th century Vijayanagara Palace architecture and 18th century Portuguese-inspired design. The Leela Goa’s new room inventory comprises of 125 superior rooms and 60 suites and it is truly a holiday-maker’s paradise that offers an elegant environment for families, corporate retreats and business events.

In the refurbishment programme, the interior of the new rooms has been updated to bear the signature GHM style – an Asian-inspired design featuring plush interiors in muted tones contrasted against dark wood floors. The new interior is designed by Jeffrey Wilkes of Lim, Teo & Wilkes Design Works whose inspiration he drew from The Club at The Leela concept originally designed by award-winning Indonesian designer Mr. Jaya Ibrahim, who has worked with selected GHM hotels around the world.

The newly renovated rooms now feature spacious bathrooms with a separate shower, bathtub and twin vanities, and modern amenities such as two plasma TVs. All rooms will offer views of the hotel’s spectacular lagoons and they will include an enclosed patio area with an oversized day bed and a separate seating area. Twin bedded rooms and interconnecting rooms will also be available.

Enhancement to the restaurant public area include an ‘al fresco’ dining area extension to Jamavar, the Leela’s specialty Indian restaurant which boasts stunning views of the golf course, pool and the Arabian Sea.

“Our goal is to provide the best quality experience for our customers in both the facilities and the services we offer. With the refurbishments, The Leela Goa has been modernized to continue positioning itself as the market leader offering the best accommodations in Goa,” remarked Mr. Evan Pavlakis, Vice President of GHM on behalf of The Leela Goa. “One of our goals has always been to be the best at what we do and this refurbishment is a testament to our commitment,” Mr. Pavlakis added.

With 15 Club Suites, The Club at The Leela Goa is designed to meet the needs of discerning travellers who put a premium on quality and excellent service. Club Suites are luxurious spaces which feature premium amenities offered exclusively to guests. These services include butler services, access to the Club Lounge, a restaurant and a private swimming pool, complimentary limousine transfers, continental breakfast, signature drinks and afternoon tea at the Club Lounge.
