InterContinental Hotels Group [LON: IHG, NYSE: IHG (ADRs)] (IHG), the world’s largest hotel group by number of rooms, announced today that its sixth hotel will open this week in Sarasota, Fla. (USA). The Hotel Indigo Sarasota will represent the brand’s first new build hotel.

The new branded boutique property is owned by Paradise Hotels of Florida, LLC and managed by Wesley Hotels & Resorts, under a license agreement with a company in the InterContinental Hotels Group. It is also one of two Hotel Indigo properties currently under development by Wesley Hotels and Resorts. The second property will be located in Nashville and is scheduled to open first quarter 2007.

Sarasota lies within Florida's third-fastest growing major market and Hotel Indigo Sarasota is situated downtown at the center of the Theater and Arts District. The hotel is just minutes from the Sarasota Opera House, the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center, the Florida West Coast Symphony as well as several restaurants and shops.

“We’re pleased to welcome our first new build Hotel Indigo to the brand’s portfolio,” said Jim Anhut, senior vice president, Brand Development, the Americas, InterContinental Hotels Group. “Hotel Indigo Sarasota is located in one of the most popular destinations along Florida’s west coast. We’ve designed Hotel Indigo for travelers who are looking for a unique hotel experience and know this hotel’s location in the heart of Sarasota’s arts district along with our unique design will both inspire and intrigue business and leisure travelers,” he added.

The soul of Hotel Indigo’s retail-inspired concept is renewal – thoughtful changes that are made throughout the year to keep the hotel fresh, similar to the way retailers change their window displays. Hotel Indigo Sarasota houses 95 guestrooms that will feature renewable elements such as vivid murals, area rugs, plush duvets and slip covers that will change periodically. Public spaces will be transformed seasonally through changing artwork, music, flora, murals and directional signage.

The Hotel Indigo Sarasota will also feature signature design elements including oversized lobby chairs, which create a personal work or dining space within the public areas of the hotel; cozy, airy and inviting guestrooms with plush bedding, hardwood-style flooring and spa-style showers; a “phi”tness studio with cardio equipment and free weights. The hotel also offers three meeting rooms with over 1,100 sq.-ft. of meeting space accommodating up to 50 guests. Complimentary wireless high-speed Internet access is available throughout the hotel.

The hotel’s bistro-style restaurant, offers seasonal, health-conscious fare for breakfast as well as Starbucks coffee. At PHI Bar, a fundamental departure from the norm, guests can enjoy their favorite beverage in casual elegance. The evening menu includes fresh salads, pizzettas, Panini sandwiches, and other trend forward entrees. Food is prepared quickly for the time-conscious traveler who wishes to eat in their room or relax in one of the hotel’s signature oversized lobby chairs.

“We are thrilled to be Sarasota’s first boutique hotel centrally located to attractions, beaches, and downtown Sarasota,” said Leslie Power, In.keeper, Hotel Indigo Sarasota. “We look forward to greeting our first guests and ‘wowing’ them with our guest-first service culture and phenomenal design.”

The Hotel Indigo brand is quickly expanding throughout North America, with five locations open and nearly 20 in the pipeline. The first Hotel Indigo opened in Atlanta in October 2004, followed by Hotel Indigo Chicago Gold Coast, Chicago Schaumburg North, Houston and Dallas. Future sites of Hotel Indigo hotels include Ottawa, Canada; Scottsdale, Ariz.; and Nashville and Knoxville, Tenn.
