InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will increase its presence in Switzerland with the addition of InterContinental Davos to its ever-growing European portfolio.

The 180 room InterContinental Davos, due to open in 2010, will feature a first for any IHG property in Europe, offering 60 luxury residential InterContinental apartments for sale. This landmark agreement was signed today between IHG and the hotel's owner Stilli Park AG.

Designed by renowned architect Matteo Thun, the hotel is set in a stunning location overlooking the valleys and ski runs of Davos. Its design is unique, blending elements from its natural surroundings with an iconic and contemporary style. Construction of the hotel is due to commence in late 2007.

Jennifer Fox, Chief Operating Officer, InterContinental Brand Europe commented: “IHG is delighted to offer the first international luxury hotel in the resort and conference destination of Davos. With so many travellers visiting this region throughout the year, we are looking forward to offering them luxurious facilities and our unique guest service philosophy.

"IHG is extremely proud of the service it offers its guests in Switzerland and throughout Europe and the company's expansion and development plans will enable more and more of them to experience the luxury of InterContinental hotels."

IHG's presence will further enhance Davos' position as a leading destination for both business and leisure travellers. The area is famed for its clear mountain air and leisure travellers visit the area year round to enjoy the array of winter and summer sports available. Davos is also the location of the World Economic Forum's annual meeting which attracts a large influx of visitors every year to this high-profile event.

InterContinental Davos will provide superior accommodation with 180 guest rooms including a number of luxury suites with spectacular views of the mountain and surrounding forest. To help guests unwind there will be a 1,100 square metre health spa and the hotel will also provide abundant state-of-the-art meeting and conference space, to help meet the growing demand for such facilities in Davos.

Davos is located just 1.5 hours from Zurich international airport and complements IHG's existing offering in the region, including the InterContinental Berchtesgaden.

Martin Buchli, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Stilli Park AG commented: "We are proud to be partnering with InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) to bring this prestigious resort complex to Davos. We are confident that IHG, with its concept and personal service, will fulfil the needs of our guests, the city of Davos and the region of Graubünden. We look forward to working with IHG towards the opening of the InterContinental Davos in 2010."
