Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea landed the number six spot while Mövenpick Resort & Residences Aqaba completed the round-up of the 10 selected resorts. The properties were rated by readers on the basis of their rooms, service, food, location, design and activities. That makes Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts the only company in Jordan with two properties in the top 10 list.

The Readers’ Choice Awards evaluate cities, islands, hotels, resorts, cruise liners and airlines on an annual basis. This year, more than 80,000 readers cast votes to decide the winners, making it the highest participation ever in the Readers’ Choice Awards’ 25-year history. For the Middle East selection, readers rated resorts in Jordan and the United Arab Emirates.

It’s not the first time for Mövenpick Resort & Spa Dead Sea to be recognised by readers of the renowned magazine. The resort’s 31 treatment room Zara Spa has received the highest ranking for three consecutive years in the category for ‘Spa Retreat, Overseas’.

Next year the resort will embark on an ambitious refurbishment project that will add a botanical garden, along with renovated rooms and suites for guests at the end of 2014. The botanical garden will showcase plants from the region adjacent to the resort’s small river, with intimate seating areas for guests to enjoy this natural sanctuary. The Green Globe certified resort already has impressive olive trees, some of which are over 1,000 years old.

Other highlights of the Dead Sea resort with its authentic Arabic stone village-style architecture include beach activities, swimming pools, a fitness centre, children’s club, nine restaurants and bars.

Mövenpick Resort & Residences Aqaba occupies a spectacular position between striking mountains and the Gulf of Aqaba, just footsteps away from the marine treasures in the Red Sea. The Arabesque architecture is highlighted by elaborate wall mosaics and traditional ‘mashrabiya’ latticework on the windows. Guests have access to a private beach, four swimming pools, a health club, spacious rooms, eight restaurants and bars.

“Being included in this prestigious list of resorts is a fine achievement that speaks volumes about the attraction of Jordan for today’s luxury travellers. Visitors remember the country for its warm hospitality and this is mainly due to the friendly and helpful hotel team members who work tirelessly to create exceptionally memorable experiences for our guests,” said Peter Hoesli, general manager and regional manager in Jordan for Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts.
