“Our aim is to showcase the essence and distinctiveness of New York City within Suite 5000, and offer guests unparalleled access to new and enriching cultural experiences,” said Susanne Hatje, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, New York. “Combined with Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service and style we believe this will provide our guests with a memorable, one of a kind stay,” she added.
Designed by internationally renowned architecture and interior design firm BBG-BBGM, the suite features an elegant soft dove gray and ivory color scheme, accented with rich charcoal and black. The floor-to-ceiling windows showcase the beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline, Central Park and the Hudson River. Complementing the stunning interiors, Mandarin Oriental, New York has partnered with Whitewall magazine to curate an exclusive year-long art exhibition of New York City-inspired works by established and emerging contemporary artists including Kenny Scharf, Shelter Serra, Ray Geary and Forrest Myers.
“Whitewall’s vision to make the contemporary art world more accessible has been beautifully realized within the suite, and offers guests the rare chance to live with, learn about and even collect some incredible works of art,” said Editor in Chief, Katy Donoghue. In-room iPads allow guests to interact with the exhibition, providing access to information on the featured artists and their works.
In addition, Suite 5000 allows guests to become immersed in the finest of the city’s film and music. A collection of films featuring New York City are available for viewing on a 75-inch flat panel television in the suite’s state-of-the-art media center. The living room has a diverse record collection that has been curated by New York City’s own Academy Records, and the in-suite iPad boasts an exclusive “Soundtrack of New York.”
Additional suite features include a dining room, with seating for ten, accented by a Swarovski crystal wall installation, a full-sized kitchen with separate entry, a dedicated fitness area with equipment customized for individual guests and a master bathroom complete with a large soaking tub and an oversized steam shower with views of the Hudson River and personalized bath amenities.
“When designing a new signature suite for Mandarin Oriental, we wanted to capture the spirit of New York as well as the comfort and ease of a personal residence,” said Christina Hart, Interiors Partner at BBG-BBGM. “Suite 5000’s aesthetic looks to the property’s oriental heritage as inspiration while also celebrating the grandeur and elegance of Manhattan with modernist touches and superior craftsmanship throughout.”
Rates for Suite 5000 begin at USD 28,000.
