A perfectly prepared gourmet meal is a joy to eat, and a glass of fine wine often hits the spot. Put the right wine and foods together and voila, magic happens.
Renowned French winemaker Monsieur Laurent Brotte was invited to a fabulous winemaker’s dinner at the Pacific City Club last Friday while visiting Thailand for the second time. The Clubs Executive Chef, Thierry Loncle, a former apprentice of Michelin Star Chef Bernard Labrosse, created an awe-inspiring five course meal, combining his unfussy, yet appealing and current interpretation of classic European cuisine with the best vintages from the Rhone Valley in France.
Pairing the ‘La Fiole Du Pape Châteauneuf du Pape’, and a grilled, rosemary perfumed, medallion of Provencal bream with chestnuts, puree of sorrel and red wine butter, was inevitably a risk but Chef Thierry’s courage has more than paid off. The essential oils of the rosemary and the sweetness of the chestnuts embraced the lush bream and synthesized to new culinary experiences.
“The food tasting and rehearsal we did on the day before was such great pleasure that we decided to add in more vintage and flew in a few bottles of Brotte’s very own Chateauneuf du Pape Domaine Barville, Optimum 2009,” as Alexander Scheible, the General Manager of the Pacific City Club, explained with a pleased grin when welcoming the Pacific City Club’s esteemed members.
Awarded 94 points by Robert Parker, Pacific City Club members could savor this rarity along with tender slices of milk feed veal, scented with lemon and lavender. The light zucchini parfait, the morel mushrooms and the luscious pistachio nuts molded up to a flavorsome unit.
Capping off a wonderful evening Richard Jones, Director, Business Development, Asia, presented two lucky diners with the prize of a SeaDream cruise in one of its the award-winning vessels that spend seasons in the Caribbean or the Mediterranean. SeaDream Yacht Club celebrated its 1st year of operations in Asia. The SeaDream experience, an exquisite casual, leisurely, seagoing holiday that reflects SeaDream’s mantra “Its Yachting, not Cruising” will be enjoyed by Darren Smith, an Army Attaché at the US Embassy in Bangkok, and his wife Natasha.
Richard Jones said: “SeaDream Yacht Club is pleased to be celebrating our first year of sales operations in Asia and awareness of our brand is growing throughout the region. SeaDream has an entirely unique concept of small yachting-style voyages where the emphasis is on an elegant, unstructured seagoing experience. It is a casual, yachting lifestyle and I am delighted to be able to offer this prize and I’m sure the lucky winners will have a trip they will never forget.”
Established over 16 years, Pacific City Club has brought together leading business executives and social elites in the Bangkok community and has created an environment in which they may conduct business, socialize with their distinguished guests and exercise in the Club’s fitness centre and spa.
Situated on the 28th, 29th and 30th floors of the Two Pacific Place Building on Sukhumvit Road, the Club is in a central and easily accessible location. The Club is well respected in Thailand and the Asia Pacific region and offers the reciprocal use of many exclusive clubs around the World.
